Neonate sleeping all day

I had my first veiled hatch last night! I have her little baby habitat set up but she seems to spend most of her time sleeping. She'll wander around a little, but mostly with her eyes closed. I haven't seen her eat or drink yet. I know it sometimes takes a day or two for them to start eating, but should I be worried about her spending so much time asleep? Her color is good and when a fruit fly walks on her, she wriggles and changes color but generally doesn't open her eyes.

Not that I would encourage you to worry, but most of my baby Veileds(in the big-boy baby bin since Tuesday) are not only wide awake but in almost constant motion. Have not seen any eat yet, but that doesn't mean that they haven't!

Thanks. I figured that's their normal MO. I'm not sure what I should or can do, if anything.

Out of my last batch we lost one. It started the same way, the eyes were closed. He seems to drink like crazy when i misted and he was in the middle of a shed and 3 weeks old when it happened. He passed away later that night. No idea what happened. Poor little guy. I hope yours turns out allright. There is really nothing you can do but check your temps, humidity, etc. Like julirs said, it they are meant to live they will. I had 2 female veiled that were months old pass away for who know what reason. Sometimes they are just not meant to be. I'll say a prayer for your little guy.

I just had one that had its eyes closed all day and it just died yesterday :(, it wasn't eating and I'm guessing because it couldn't see the fruitflies or crickets.

i dont know

my babies sleep alot i never see them really active but eery time i go in there they have moved somewhere else and they are eating and drinking fine i think its the movement that makes them do that cause they are eating alot and drinking and when i take them out once a week to check on them if its still they move like wild fire

What temp are you keeping her at? It's often cool here in Washington State. We just had our veileds begin hatching on Friday. I use a night time reptile bulb during the day to keep their temps around 79 degrees average. Lower at misting time, and a bit warmer right before misting. The bulb is clamped well above their tub. And their tub has no top on it, and screening on both ends for added ventilation.

I also read that someone sets theirs outside, supervised, in filtered sunlight. I've been doing that once a day for about an hour. On our deck under a filtering umbrella. Ours love it and are very active. I haven't personally seen all of them eat, but they are putting out some pretty good poops. They disdain the fruit flies, but go for the baby crickets.
