Hey guys,

So i finally got my LED lights installed. i was contemplating for weeks on weather to put them on the outside or the inside of the cage. i decided that it would be easier using one long strip on the inside rather than cutting and soldering different pieces on the the top of the cage like other users have done in the past.

The purpose of these lights is to get my Ficus to grow and thrive and not to die like it has been doing.

I got these light off of ebay for a really cheap price. they are completely waterproof and have a 3M sticky back on them. I originally just tried sticking them on the inside of the cage but that didnt work at all. so i ended up hot glueing the strip from the outside. that seemed to work very well. nice and secure and not going anywhere.

Enjoy!!! :D:D:D

Looks cool. Def adds a bunch of light.

I haven't had any issues with my Ficus in my enclosure though. It's growing, I have to prune it soon.

yeah i duno whats going on with it. it was dropping leaves like crazy as you can probly tell in the pics its looking a little thin. I hope it starts growing to fill in all the empty spots and provide more cover for my little dude.

Anyone have ideas on keeping a ficus alive?? haha

I want it to fill the entire cage up. But its looking pretty sad at the moment.

Not to put a damper on your project, but the majority of these types of LEDs give off very little to no useful light; especially the ones on eBay from china.

Not all light is equivalent....if you have specs on these things I can give you better insight into what I mean :)

EDIT: Before you got these, what lighting were you using?

Sorry but i dont have any specs on these. they are not the ones from china. i got them from a guy in texas. I forget the company name but they were exclusive to LED's. Let me do a little searching and see if i can find you the specs for them.

Thanks for the input

Make sure there are no vents blowing on your ficus. They will often drop leaves from this. (Probably not great for the cham either, depending on the temp.) You may want to add some vines to offer shade now that the LEDs are going down the sides. May help your cham feel more secure.
