Hi I'm new just got my panther chameleon rocky the other day I was told he is 3 months old I tied feeding him pinhead crickets and he wasn't enjoying them so I thought I would feed him some flightless FF which I culture and have done for a long time anyway he loves them he's waiting beside the cup for them to crawl up and eat them

My temp in my viv is around 28/30C and I have a heat bulb for basking and a big UVB 5.0 bulb for UV

Planted with real plants and a home made dripper system connected to drip onto the leaves Aswell he's not been looking stressed latery so that's a good signal

But the problem is he doesn't like to get touched / held often been trying daily just wondering if this is a problem when they are young or just me

Hope to hear back many thanks Peter

You said you just got him recently?
You give him sometime at least a week to adjust to his new before you try to grab him , once he knows his home you can begin to try to handle him but , patience is key on this forum there is a member by the name psychobunny who has a thread on things you can do so your chameleon can warm up to you good luck!

hi there peter :)
congrats on your new cham.
i know it can be hard but leaving him be for the next few weeks and just misting and offering food is the best thing you can do.if he refuse food then just try again the next day.my cham took 7 days till he started eating.as a new cham owner it can be a worrying stage.just give him plenty of quiet time and dont try to touch him.you want him to settle first and not have to try and adjust to too much at once.everything is new to him.some can take quite a while so you really need to be patient.
when he is more settled then just start by offering him treats.in time he will see that your hand is a good thing and not a bad thing that is going to grab him..

i believe unless your cham is ill and needs a check/vets then otherwise all handling should be on the chameleons terms.that's just my opinion tho.

can i ask.when you say your viv temp is around 28/30 do you mean the basking spot or ambient temp?

also is he drinking when you mist him? also when is the humidity?

a pic of him and his setup would be great ;)

He's drinking well when spraying leafs and though dripper the humidity is around high 50's

The temp at highest point is like 29.6C and at cooler point in plants it's at 28.1C

Nice little guy you have there! I would watch the bamboo branches , from what I understand, and please senior members correct me if I'm wrong. They get really slippery when wet so watch and make sure the little guys from falling. Just my opinion on it, but he is a pretty little fella!
