New Ball Python

His name is Pinot, I got him a little over a week ago. He defenetly hasn’t been handled much, but I’m working with him a bit to calm him down. Not sure how old he is, pretty young is all I know. Only problem I’m having is he won’t eat. I have frozen pinkes I thaw for him but will either move away or bury his head under his body to avoid it. Any ideas? I do understand bps are picky, I’m not sure what to do .

We have a BRB and when we first got him he went a couple of weeks refusing mouse pinkies. Changed to rat pups and bingo! Never turned down since.

Unless he's very small, he should easily manage a rat pup, it's not much bigger than a pinkie.

Another thing you can try is, after thawing, wrap in cling film and put in warm water to bring the prey temp up to what would be the natural body temp. In rats it's around 36c. Then give it a wiggle and move it although the prey is moving away.

Sorry, can't help there. We have a good reptile store (3 in fact) fairly close by, so never had to buy online.

you could try cutting the pinkie open to entice him with the scent. it may help. make sure the pinkie is warm too. snakes tend to like the scent of blood on their prey means an easy meal
