New cage set up!!!

I rearranged all of Rango's sticks and what not and put the bottom down to the floor instead of having it raised up.. So it wouldn't be too big.. But the little guy has been explorational so I just gave him the while enclosure and he LOVES it.



I put my schefflera Plant back in there And also put dirt in there instead of just news paper.. My Cham doesn't go down there and is bowl fed so it's not a problem for me

very cool. one thing id change with your set up is put it on a side table or something to raise it up a bit. chameleons like to be high as possible. they feel more secure that way.i have mine on my dresser. total its like 9 feet from the ground if you measure from his basking spot to the floor.

Looks nice!!! Btw what is that stuff at the bottom of the cage? I think you should remove that if it's a substrate of any kind. Also add a feeder cup. He looks too small for a cage that big.

I would agree.

Yeah I got my guy up as high as my ceiling would go. The top of the cage is like 6 1/2 ft off the ground.

I have a feeder cup, it's not in when I took the picture and for that person who commented about my Substrate, re read. I'm cup feeding so it doesn't matter. And my Cham can't go down there any way. And I don't have
Room to put him on a dresser or anything.. Lol literally no where

Not to be rude but its not about what you want its about what your chameleon needs... i find it unsettling that you say "is a lizard" (i'm assuming you meant "it's').. that shows me you dont have respect for your chameleon like you should. HE is NOT just a lizard, HE is a LIVING BREATHING CREATURE who relies on you for his well being...
and it does matter that you have substrate no matter how big your cage is or whether or not you cup feed.

Hey, they are just trying to help you. Don't get defensive or rude. It is uncalled for.

Also, as far as substrate, it can cause serious health problems if they ingest it. You may think it doesn't go to the bottom, but if it can climb on that screen, it can go to the bottom of the cage, and it will. Mine explores the entire cage all the time. It is best if you have nothing in the bottom of the cage rather than dirt.

We are all trying to look out for each other and our animals, including yours, so keep that in mind before biting off anyone's head, especially those with far more experience than you. (I am not counting myself in that group, I have just learned to be respectful and take the advice that is given to me, as you should as well.)

They were just giving you very good advise that would prevent any harm to your cham which sounds like you care about your cham. Take the advise and don't be rude.

No, because I disagree with the advice. I don't like just paper towels at the bottom of the cage. It looks stupid. Im only rude because that person above was being cocky about my cage. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a larger cage if your cham likes to roam. So explain "free roam" that's unlimited space. If you disagree with my "opinions" mind your own business if your input is not asked for. Stay out of it.

they sell stuff for the bottom of reptile cages at pet stores and i know a few members on here use foam sheets (like the ones used in middle school) on the bottom.
free range is done and some members do free range year round. but only adult chams, there are alot of dangers for smaller ones. so its typically best to wait until they are at least a year if you are to free range them all the time.
the most common dangers of free ranging all the time are starvation due to not being able to get food, dehydration because of insufficient watering, lighting issues, humidity too low, and falls.
thats why cup feeding is handy.
and to be honest. its pretty much impossible to post ANYTHING on here without getting an opinion or two.

written text is up for interpretation. we could not hear the tone in either persons voice so it makes communication a bit more difficult.
and personally, i like the plain bottom (easier to clean) had the carpet stuff but you have to throw it away after a while bc of smell. if you find something you like you should share it on here

So I can just not put anything down and just have the white plastic as the bottom? Wont like ruin it from drainage and what not?

Go get your hair dryer a Lighter a phillips head screw driver and a baseball or softball (something round and sturdy)

Take the hair dryer and put it on high and heat up the white pvc enclosure bottom and focus mainly on the center. It will get hot and soft sooner or later, then using that round object you found push down onto the center of the tray until it bows some and hold it there till it cools. You can cool it quicker by pouring a little cold water on it.

Now your tray will drain to the center, you created a slight slope to do such.

Now Get your lighter out and phillips head screw driver. Get the tip of that screwdriver nice and HOT, once its HOT then push/twist thru the tray in center where you created the bow at. Do this 4-5 times fairly close together like a sink drain would look.

BAM! you can now stick a 5 gal bucket under and it will drain down.
