New Camera

Hey guys! As some of you already know, I recently bought a new camera. Also, I signed up for the 30 day free trial of Photoshop. So I've been experimenting quite a bit. It's a slow process, but I'm willing to learn.

At this point, I'm introducing myself to my camera. Once I've fully read the manual, I'll move on to the more advanced settings. I'm almost a little reluctant to post my "experiment" photos, but what the heck.

I've been taking full advantage of "face" and "eye" shots, something I could never do with my iPhone. This photo was snapped as Loki was walking out of his cage. I was fooling around with Photoshop, and figured out how to make the background black & white. I assumed it would really make his colors pop. It's not my best work, but I'm proud of it. It's a good start.

Funny how much money we are willing to spend to show are chameleons true colors.i went into a camera store a few years back.Asked for a camera that had a manual focus.. And manual zoom.to take baby picture. He handed me a Nikon SLR...I said are you serious? So out the door I went camera in hand.it has been the best waist of money i have spent in 20 years. have fun with it. guys on here are very photo friendly.

Haha! It's a never ending quest.

I love that you wanted to take a baby picture, and walked out with an expensive camera. Lol. I just went to "look" and walked out with a Nikon Rebel T3i. I'm glad it was the best waste of money, because I haven't been 100% sure. I'm really happy with it, but Chameleons are my expensive hobby. I definitely don't need two of those! I figure if I've got the extra money, I can purchase lenses or whatever I need. Photography will always come second though.

What is it about these little creatures, that make us want to spend every dime we've got? I'm definitely not having kids for a looong time. I can't control myself!

Great shot! I have too many things that I want/need to pay for, so I'll be sticking with my iPhone for pics!

Great pic! Try using the different flash settings and you can sometimes achieve the black or near black background with a fill in flash. I have the same camera as you and I LOVE it!!

Thanks for the tip! I was experimenting with the flash yesterday. I have extremely shakey hands, so not using the flash is very difficult. I've been practicing though, and his colors are actually more accurate without it. Any lenses you might recommend for shooting these guys? I need to make a "must buy" list.
