Hey there! Welcome! Im very excited for you! Im glad you are here:) I would however let us hear about your setup BEFORE you get him. That way you know you are ready for him ;) So please, tell me EVERYTHING about the enclosure and lights and plants and everything to do with the setup you have for him.:)

I see you know some one with some experience! I would give water about 20min after hes sat in his enclosure. Then I would wait to the next day to feed. JMO I would still like to see/hear about your setup though:)

I agree with Solid Snake, we'd love to hear about your cage :)
But I personally spray the cage down before I put in a new chameleon, that way they can lick off the drops if they're thirsty and I don't spook them immediately with a spray (unless they really look like they need an immediate shower) and then give them a misting like an hour later or so. I may also throw in some crickets at this time as well. So I like to give them like an hour to settle in a little before I bother them with food and more water. But this is just me, I think others just go ahead and spray them immediately, which is probably also fine.

well i have a 30x18x30 screen cage with a dual light fixture. one 75w bulb with a 15w uvb bulb. I have a few fake vines going through the cage and i have lots of hiding spaces for the new critter. most of them are plastic rubberized (the kind especially made for veileds), im using the more economic approach on the drip system using a dixie cup with a pin sized hole at the bottom and lining the bottom of the cage is the economic dirt (no bark) ill try and upload pics!

You can take the dirt out. It really serves no good purpose. It can be ingested and harm the cham. What are these rubberized items you speak of? You mean rubber plants? Your lights and cage sound good. What about supplements? You will need a calcium w/ D3
A calcium w/o D3
A vitimin with vit A
OR you could just go with repashy calcium plus(an all in one).
Is it arriving in the mail?

Oh, and I like Olympia's idea of spraying the cage down before hand, and then again after its settled for an hour or two.

Ditch the dirt;).....If you can, before he gets here, replace with paper towels. When my little guy got here last Nov. I sprayed the plants near him, but didnt spray him. he saw the drops and dashed to get a drink.......He musta been very thirsty after the journey. About 30 minutes later he ate some small crix dusted with Repashy Calcium Plus. yer gonna luv your new cham!!

He just got here! He is so cute! Im trying to figure out how to post pics! its so hard not to handle him hes been very good so far. he is in his cage but in the farthest corner from me. hes very dark right now so im just going to leave him alone. No bumps bruises however he does have some white spots. they arent big just about ball pen sized. i think he might start shedding soon. The rubberized plants are just the normal fake plants u would buy in a pet shop for cams. Ill def take out the dirt later. I dont want to bother him too much. he looks tired. I do however have medium/large crickets. What should i do about that?

YAY! Just let him chill for awhile. Dont feed anything longer than his mouth, or wider than the space between his eyes. I look forward to seeing your new friend! Keep us posted!

hes a veiled chameleon that i bought from veiledchameleons.com i bought a juvenile. hes around 3 inches body and another 3 tail

Where you post your reply scroll down and click manage attachments & pic them out of your photos

To clarify. You will need to have the pics on your computer, then you click the paperclip when you reply on here, and it will pull up a box to browse for them on your comp. and upload them here. You can post five per reply. Get some of him and the setup:D

IMG_0406.jpg here he is!!!

he is so tiny! The only store had medium/large crickets. other than that it was going to be the pinhead crickets. They would have gotten out everywhere so i went with the medium ones. although they do look big. idk what should i do??
