New cham. Is the cage okay?

The top stays at 82. Botton is 74.and I turn the lights on at 10 am and spray it down. Including him "yoda". Then I wait about an hour or so then take him out and feed him around 10 to 15 crickets a day by hand. Then he crawls up my arm and lays on my head so we go outside and he sun bathes for about 10 minutes and we come back in and he goes back to his cage and then I spray him before work and after work turn his lights off at 10 PM or 2am depending on when I get off work. Still working on putting plants on the bottom. He seems happy but today he is taking what seems to be a nap. That or he is just laying on this leaf. Every time i come over he gets up and walks twords me... so i think he is fine. But someone said they dont take naps and he might be kinda skinny....

He does look a bit skinny and he defanitly should not be taking naps during the day. No exceptions. What are you calling a nap, is he resting with his eyes closed?

...And respectfully your cage needs a good bit of work. But let’s start with the naps. Please fill out the how to ask for help form and paste your answers back here when you’re done. The link to the form is in my signature.

How do I do that
But by nap I mean he is still alert so he seems to be okay just rests there and when I come to the cage he climbs onto the mesh like he wants me to pick him up again. He loves coming out.... what do you mean by a lot of work? He has 12 different vines. And I dont want to add many more until he is bigger. Cause it's already hard enough to find him.

Click on this(see pic below) then highlight and copy the form. Then paste it back on this thread. Then go through it and answer each question in detail. This will allow us to review your husbandry in detail so we can let you know what needs to be fixed. Please don’t take offense to this, everyone goes through it and it can only benefit you!

But does he close his eyes when he is “resting?”

I understand you may not want to add more to his viv right now but what you want and what he needs can be two completely different things. Let’s at least talk about it...

Your chameleon wants out because the cage is empty, you're lacking suitable uvb, and I'm guessing other factors are off. Why would an undomesticated animal run up to a possible predator(you)? In time this can happen, but these animals havent survived thousands of years in the wild by happily walking up to large predatory animals. Why even post if you're just going to tell people you're not taking their advice and you think hes fine.

Because we have spent a week together he didnt do this the first 4 days he just started doing this yesterday and I am taking the advice. I'm just saying I dont wanna get too crazy because I want to be able to see if he's pooping regularly and stuff like that. I get it needs more stuff and I'm sorry your feeling like being a jerk today. But it would be greatly appreciated if you just backed the hell up.

He's not closing them he is just laying on one leaf. Thanks but no thanks I'll just leave and ask my vet what he thinks rather than being harassed by some jack ass

Your UVB bulb is defanitly an issue, please fill out the form so we can explain what needs to be fixed and why.
  • Your Chameleon - veiled
  • Handling - twice a day

  • Supplements - repti calciam and got the repti d3 also but haven't used that yet. Once again only a week
  • Watering I mist down his cage but he womt drink off leaves so I tend to spray it onto my hand because that is the only way I have gotten him to drink
