He does not seem stressed. He is always climbing around and he has his special hiding places mostly in the corners. The only thing worrying me is he may be too skinny but he was even skinnier when I first got him. 9p percent of the time he is light green unless i just sprayed his cage then he turns a little darker. But i think that's just because he needs more heat
All my answers are in blue or bold.So please tell me how I have done everything wrong and how terrible I am
Cage Info:
- Your Chameleon - veiled
- Handling - twice a day it’s typicaly recommended to handle chams as little as possible but if your Cham tolerates it well then good for you just keep an eye out for stress warning signs and respond appropriately
- Feeding - crickets haven't moved t ok anything else because of the fact he is so small that not much fits the distance between his eyes 10 to 20 per day and gutloading with kale nothing wrong with crickets but try to move into Dubai’s, super worms hornworms silkworms as he grows. All these feeders can be found on eBay and at half the cost of a pet shop. They will even have ones small enough for your Cham
- Supplements - repti calciam and got the repti d3 also but haven't used that yet. Once again only a week get a multivitamin too and dust with it twice a month
- Watering I mist down his cage but he womt drink off leaves so I tend to spray it onto my hand because that is the only way I have gotten him to drink continue what your doing but invest in a dripper, they’re cheap. Set it up so it’s dripping onto the leaves at about a rate of 1 drop every 5 seconds. Eventually his instincts will take over and he will drink on his own
- Fecal Description - brown with a white tip not soft but not super hard no he has not been tested yet because I seriously just got him sounds right, no need for a fecal if he isn’t showing signs of being sick
- History - I bought him a week ago and bought everything from the pet store that they told me he should have.
- Cage Type - all screening with a little bit of wood
- Lighting - 100 watt heat bulb zoomed and a USB bulb from zoomed the compact UVB bulbs are garbage, he needs a linear uvb with a reflector hood
- Temperature - temperatures in 82 or 83 at top 72 to 74 on bottom juveniles need basking temps of about 75 degrees, switch to a smaller basking bulb and save the one you are using now for when he is done growing
- Humidity - I have nothing to measure humidity I didnt even know they had those and I have a humidifier in my living room where he lives in his cage and I also mist the cage 3 times if not 4 times a day. A hydrometer is a must you should have two since your viv is so big. Keep the humidity between 40-60%. Manage the humidity by mistings
- Plants - no live plants so far
- Placement - height is 5 feet tall and cage is in livingroom but we spend most of our time in the bedroom as we both work 10 hour days
- Location iowa usa
Current Problem laying on leaf but he is usually active and is still very friendly loves running around and climbs absolutely everywhere I give him floor time for a little bit but all he does is crawl right back to me now. He wont drink off leaves but will drink out of my hand he get sun light and everything else

Who said anything about being ill? All I asked was if he was closing his eyes, you said no so that = not ill. However he will become deathly ill if your husbandry is not on point. That’s what we’re trying to prevent by reviewing what your doing. Pet stores are notorious for saying whatever they have to to sell you something regaurdless wheather or not it’s right for the Cham. We are heat to combat just that, we have no financial motivation, we just want healthy chams...Can you tell me what's wrong with him not that you have me convinced he is deathly ill
I asked for helpful advice not for that guy to be a dick and acting like I was purposefully trying to stress him outWho said anything about being ill? They only wanna help i promise i came onto this site as a new chameleon owner not two long ago ended up having to rebuy a whole setup lights and everything and i ensure you it will make your chameleon very happy most the people on here are experts but what i think is most important is to get a t5 ho 12% uvb with d3 arcadia with the lamp that is needed to fit that i can provide and for a basking light i use a phillips no led flood light 65 watt soft white light you may wanna test it you might need 75 for your cage size, also add more branches and live plants fill that cage up its a nice size! Maybe even invest in a mister if you want mist king is great there are cheaper alternatives such as reptirain and ect still will work just gotta hand mist too but its perfect if you have work, cruise around the forum and look at other chameleon owners cages youll get some great ideas and youll notice a big change in your cham!Sorry it's nothing against you. I just already feel like I was fucking up and for him to act like I wasnt taking your advice was killing me. Cause o am. I am going out in the morning and buying more vines and everything else... I'm sorry if you felt I was rude twords you. But I worked very hard to get him to come to me the way he does. As soon as I pur my hand in he puts both front legs up and holds on to my finger and is glad to get up and have floor time to eat crickets.
The temp seems to be fine for now it stays at 82 or 83 at the top. But I knew I needed more stuff but the guy at the store said not too many because I can overwhelm him with such a big cage and so much stuff inside. And nothing on the bottom so I can make sure his poop is good. But I am going put tomorrow and buying a bunch of new vines and stuff for the bottom. But I cant do live plants because of the fact of parasites and bacteria. I sont want to kill my first chameleon. And I can take some criticism but that other guy was acting like I was a complete idiot and acting like i was purposefully trying to hurt my chameleon. I really dont want to hurt him i love yoda and squishy way too much to ever hurt them. Squishy is a fat tailed gecko btw lol and i try very hard to do the very best. And I was told no real branches because once again parasites. Anything you can say about my cage. I would love new ideas to improve yodas new home. So post away on that. I just didnt like how the one guy act twords me.They only wanna help i promise i came onto this site as a new chameleon owner not two long ago ended up having to rebuy a whole setup lights and everything and i ensure you it will make your chameleon very happy most the people on here are experts but what i think is most important is to get a t5 ho 12% uvb with d3 arcadia with the lamp that is needed to fit that i can provide and for a basking light i use a phillips no led flood light 65 watt soft white light you may wanna test it you might need 75 for your cage size, also add more branches and live plants fill that cage up its a nice size! Where do I find those??? And how long do they last? They are not really all that expensive I think the bulb I bought was $25This is what i got kinda expensive but worth it and yeah it might be better to slowly add stuff
So I thoughts maybe take a long piece of green styrofoam to put on the bottom and then stick fake flowers and leaves in it. Then add quite a few more vines... like probably 12 to 15 more. What else do you suggest I thought maybe a few big rocks on the bottom but if he falls I dont want him to hit a rock so I am thinking it is not safe... I just want him to be happy...Where do I find those??? And how long do they last? They are not really all that expensive I think the bulb I bought was $25
You can see the link in the pictures or just search it up i forget how long they last but i know its awhile if someone can tip in on this forum and help thatd be great!
