I have a new veiled chameleon he is about 4-5 months old. I just got him today, about how many crickets should I feed him a day? I also bought him some flukers calcium with d3 and flukers reptile vitamins, how often do I use these supplements?
Hello, welcome to the forum . Usually people use a plain Calcium powder (no Phosphorus or D3) for everyday dusting. The D3 one is for twice per month. Multivit can be given once or twice per month. This depends on the concentrations of D3 in the powder so check those. Here is a great all-round caresheet I always recommend to new people with Veileds - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
Thank you. the calcium with d3 says calcium not less than 36% and d3 100,000 iu/pound and how often should i use the reptile vitamin with beta carotene?
Yes Your cham will need a lot of calcium! Calcium without D3 will provide him with a high amount of calcium, and lower amounts of D3, which can cause problems in large doses.
In the end you'll have 3 supplements: Calcium (Without D3), Calcium with D3 and Multi vitamin
Calcium without D3 every day, a light dusting (Don't make the feeders look like little ghosts!) and you're all set! I would help you with the D3 and multi-vit, however I'm not experienced enough with the doses to make a correct reply
the supplementing really depends on various things such as age, exposure to natural light etc. ive got a male veiled about the same age as your chameleon (not sure if veiled or not) and am using calcium without d3 at every feeding and calcium with d3 every 2.5 weeks. and id feed 15-20 crickets everyday no bigger than the space between its eyes. i currently use 1/8"-1/4" crickets for mine. also could you post a pic of your cham?
