Nice deremensis. A female. To be frank, not the first species that I would have recommended as a first chameleon, particularly a female, at least not wild-caught.

Start here:

ADCHAM

Ah, Fabin. I have alwalys loved your dwarf jacksons. I know its not the best to start. Anyway. I'm havving her in a 260 gallon flexaitum (mesh). I've hard he from one week now. I will start paracite treatment soon.

I have already looked at ADchameleons.

Thank you so much Fabin.

Hi Maria,

Glad you like the jacksonii-- thanks for the note.

They are actually very hardy chameleons when they are either well established or born in captivity. Wild deremensis are a little tougher to acclimate, but it sounds like you're on the right track regarding hydration. As long as you're providing good drainage and ventilation, it's really difficult to overwater them. I mist my captive-hatched deremensis 2-3 times a day for a couple of minutes during each session, and they drink almost every time.

She looks like an oder female, but appears to have good muscle tone and her eye looks great. Is she always that yellow? I'd like to see a photo of her on a branch, when you can get one. Does she have a good grip? Do you have a photo of the whole enclosure?

Fabian

Thanks fabins.

Yes, from the Usambara Mountains, though they have also been found on the Uluguru and, most recently, in the Udzungwa Mountains.

I keep mine a little warmer during the day, around 24C (75F). At night, the temperature during the warm months comes down to about 18C (65F), and in the winter, sometimes a bit colder.

Did the seller tell you it was a male, or was that a typographical error? Are you in Europe?

Fa-bi-an ;)

Great chams you have. As Fabián said, you can't really give them too much water. If they have dry branches too, you can mist them probably the half of the day ;)
