Can anyone tell if my new female Jackson is gravid? We got her about three days ago and everyone says she looks fat. I have read just about everything I can on this forum and the more I read the more I suspect she might be. Please help!

Coloring and age?

Here is a picture of her color patterns. If she is sleeping she looks plump and solid light green, but when awake she is more colorful. Is there any way to tell how old he is? Of course the people at the pet store didn't know anything except she was is a female Jackson. I will be taking her to our local reptile vet early next week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She does look pretty hefty so I would lean towards yes.

I would suggest that you are simply ready for the babies. That way if/when they come, you are not surprised or overwhelmed.

Does anyone have a best guess to how much time I have before she is ready to have them? I am guessing that since she is visibly showin, she is fairly far along. I was not even thinking this was possible, and we have a vacation planned for Christmas. I have someone to watch her but not sure how they will feel about babies and birthing process... That is a lot to ask of anyone! I am going to get a habitat ready today. If anyone has some advice for me please share... I have no experience with this but have spent the last two days reading everything I possibly can find. I am also going to call the pet store where I got her and see if they can share any history with me.

The history they are going to share is she is wild caught.

What I would be reading up on is fruit fly cultures and other very small foods like baby silkworms and 1/8" crickets. You can easily order fruit flies and the crickets and have them the next day. The silkworms you might need to raise yourself but the fruit flies and crickets will hold you over.

Start buying plants and have a cage or two ready. Get your lighting in place. If she has the babies next week or next month at least the caging will be ready.

I bought some plants today and I have an extra cage. I considered buying another today with all the sales, but I hate to buy another if she isn't pregnant. I guess my extra will do for now, and if she does start to have little ones then I will determine then how many more I need. I talked to my local pet store and they have the fruit fly cultures in stock, so I should be ok on that end as well.

I want to take her to the vet to get an xray, but I feel the 30 min drive to and from might stress her out. So I am not sure if the confirmation is really worth that risk. I have only had her for four days and I have yet to see her drink. She has plenty of opportunity to drink as I have an automatic mister going off every three hours for 30 secs, and I have a slow dripper. She does seem very happy with her new plants. Her coloring has lightened back up to a nice light green. Although, if I overstay my welcome in her room she will start to get dark like in my third picture.

Even if you don't get her to the vet try to collect a fresh fecal and get that to a vet to find out if after she gives birth she will need to be treated for parasites.

She could just be drinking when you are not in the room.

Both my chameleons will play what I call the drinking game. When I am in the room I fill up Floyd's water dripper and watch him, he won't drink. So I leave the room and sneak back in and he's drinking again. Once he sees me he stops. Kinda like red light green light. It's pretty hilarious, I will hide in the closet and he will start drinking and then I will come out and he will stop.:D Eugene on the other hand is a ninja drinker. White urates but I havent seen him drink before.

If you can take a picture from directly over her looking down on her it might be helpful to determine if she is gravid and possibly an idea on how far along. All the advice you have been given is good,I might suggest a tub to start the baby's off in as it helps keep humidity and temps more consistent. If you have any questions on how to set up a tub I have an old thread and I'm sure many others can get you pictures as well. Bobby/Saldayra just put together one and has recent pictures of it.

Here is a pic from directly above. She seems to be doing well, staying lighter green a little more now. Let me know what you think. If anyone has a pic of a female that is not gravid from above, please post as well. I have seen very few pics of non gravid female Jackson so maybe they all have bulging bellies.
