New Kammer Boy

Hi, my new Nosy Be (5 month old) Kammer cham arrived perfectly on Friday morning.

He is eating great, drinking, and settling in. He wants nothing to do with me yet :( (keeps opening his mouth when I put my hand in the cage) LOL. I understand this takes time and with a little hand feeding we'll see.

The set up is almost complete. I have ordered custom fit branches from Kammers for my Forever cage, which will arrive tomorrow. I'm also getting some more foliage.

He has been hanging lots under the lights! The best accessory I bought is the Zoo Med Lamp Stand. The fear of him getting burnt is gone. The screen is no longer sizzing hot. I highly recommend this for your cham.

Well here are some pics of my new pride and joy :D

Tomorrow I will receive the dripper, a few custom branches and some more foliage.

Wow he is awesome looking! I don't think you can ever go wrong with a Kammer baby, especially a Nosy Be Kammer Baby!

Thanks. I'm very happy. I just hope his temperment gets better. I guess it takes time. He hasn't hissed at me but when I approach him slowly with my hand he opens his mouth so I haven't taken him out yet.

I would give him time to settle in before you try to handle or get him out. I suggest to give him 2-3 maybe even 4 weeks before you begin the process of handling. At that point you can try everyday or every other day handling for only a minute or two at a time.

He will warm up to you, right now you are just a huge animal that he thinks wants to eat him lol.

Thanks. Wish me luck. I just don't want too much time to go by and then he won't want to be handled at all.

Welcome to the Kammer family! I have an Ambanja of theirs and also had a Sambava that passed away about a year ago. They have awesome chameleons! As far as the handling.. I would not even try for atleast a couple of weeks if he is showing aggression. They need time to settle in and get used to you. Try hand feeding him to try and get him used to you. You have to be patient with handling.

Thanks Carol :) I will let him come around! He isn't hiding at all, just is observing the situation. Im happy to have a Kammer baby :)
