New Kammer "Line Drive" female is here!! Safe!!

Wow what is with all the edema cases lately? First I posted it about my guy and now alot more people are noticing it. I'm very sorry to hear about ur girl Jon, i hope she gets better, i took my boy off of supplements for about a week and a half and i have seen no signs of edema in a week's time:D, hope that works for your girl as well.

Just do a forum search for "Gular Edema". There is tons of info about how
to treat it. I think you are doing the right thing by cutting down on the suppliments and making sure she gets lots of water.

I have not seen this in any of my chams (knock on wood!!), so I have no personal experience with treating it.
But I hope it's just a minor thing that will go away with a little change in husbandry.

Are you able to give your cham any natural sunshine where you are?
Yea, i did some searching. Actually i have been looking into what GE is and treatments after Carol's thread about her new Cham. So i kinda have a gameplan , just incase it happened in my group. And yes, all my Chams get outside time about 3-4 times weekly (weather pending).

From what I have seen... Females are a lot more prone to it. Def go off of supplements for a week or so. You can just give her plain calcium. It can be a mix of your Gutload and your supplements...IMO
All of my Chams get basically the same care. The females and younger Chams get a bit more supplementing in the way of Calcium without D3. My other female is just fine, so i don't really know. But rite now she is on Pheonix worms to still supply Calcium and dubias. But no dusting.

Edema is more common in females than males. Ive noticed this can occur esp around the time of producing a clutch. She is still prob too young to be producing an infertile clutch. Lay off the supps for a while and try switching her off cricks for a week or so and see how she does. Good time to try her on silks or horns as they are full of extra hydration....;)

Its funny because she was only on dubias till recently. I got 500 extra small crickets from the last expo for my group of L.wiliamsi geckos. But the crickets were too large for them to eat. So i started to feed her with them. (but she was showing the Gular Edema prior to this). She is off crickets now and i'll be keeping her off them till i can figure out whats going on adn how to prevent it.

Thanks for the replies and help from everyone!!

Yea, it's a lil puzzling. I have also see the other posts about it and found it weird.

My little girl is also showing some "puffyness" around her right eye. I flushed it with saline and gave her two 5 minute showers yesterday. It seems better today.

I'll have pix tomorrow. In all my efforts to resolve this i forgot to take pix.

I hope your little girl gets well soon. These little guys sure know how make us nervous!

Thanks. She is actually doing a lot better. Still has some "swelling", but it's 75%-80% less than before.

This is what i have done.

*Raise basking temps from 84-85* to low 90* ( i believe this to be the biggest difference)
*Stopped with ALL supplements.
*Stopped with crickets.
*On Pheonix worms, as a source of natural Calcium.
*Still on B.dubia roaches.
*Misting schedule has been increased to 6 times a day , 40 second duration.
*daily 5 minute shower.

How do you shower her?
Do you put her in the bathroom shower?

I need to do this for my jacksons and cant quite picture it in my mind

i have a small Hibiscus that i place in the tub, place her on it and run the showerhead on the wall to deflect the water onto her and the plant. I also leave her mister in her cage on longer than usual. (her cage has proper drainage).
