New member , can't post threads?

Hello melanocephalum,

You just posted a thread, congratulations. If you are referring to not being able to post in the classifieds, Junior Members do not have that ability, and you won't be able to do so until becoming a Member. In order to become a member, it takes time and patience... as well as posting in the right area!

For future reference, the Site Assistance forum is here:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/site-assistance/

Well id like to contribute to you site in terms of Southern African Bradypodium but your forum seems to feel the need to "earn rights"
to post in specific area's or threads which makes sharing photo's/information quite difficult.

You posted in General Discussion, did you not?

Those forums are closed so spam bots etc. can not get access to them, as well as other reasons.

As far as photo sharing goes, most people use an image hosting service such as photobucket.com, tinypic.com, etc.

Most of the limitations are here for a reason. Hope you understand.

i posted in general yes, how ever to post specific threads is where there seems to be an issue.

So how does one go about posting?

I was refereed to this forum by an existing member to please share all my field observations photo's and notes on Bradypodium in southern Africa found in situ ect as i have being doing some work with them.

I am not a new forum user in general just new to this forum, so the actual abilities of hosting photo's and posting is not the problem the issue lies within gaining the "cred" or rights which ever you'd like in order to post them.

Just doesn't seem to make much sense in posting photo's and taking time if i can not get them posted.

Thanks.

melanocephalum, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Melanocephalum,

You said, "So how does one go about posting?"
What forum were you trying to post in? It depends on what forum, you might not have permissions because you are a junior member. For now you could post in this forum, I am unsure if you can get into the species-specific forums as of yet.

I had already stated that it was to prevent spam bots, not necessarily because we may think you are "new". It also prevents people from abusing the classifieds... however if you are indeed not new, why did you post in general instead of Site Assistance?

Waiting really isn't a big deal, many other people have done it. I'm sorry if you feel this infringes upon something but these permissions are blocked for a reason.

I would love to see your field observations. Why not create a new thread here on General Discussion? If it needs to be moved, a moderator will do it for you.

As far as replies go, just wait it out like everyone else has.

I believe you are trying to post in the advanced keepers section correct? As Syn mentioned we do have limitations in certain subforums so to promote perhaps slightly more challenging or lively discussions for our more experienced members than just the regular basic chameleon topics. Sadly the 'Junior Member' status doesn't differentiate between a someone new to the hobby and someone who has been keeping a long time. I don't think the jump from Junior Member to Member is a long one.

I too would like to see some of your SA field herping photos! We don't see much Bradypodion on this side of the ocean so post away either in the general or photography sections and I'll be happy to move the posts to the appropriate forum.

Cheers
Trace

Thanks Trace,

I understand but it seems a little pretentious to me i mean, sure you could keep one say Veild Chameleon and sit behind a computer all day and get 6732 pots and suddenly you are experienced keeper who has "rights" to post.

Im certain time in the field observing taking notes ect is worth allot more then tuning on the UV and heat bulb and chucking in some crickets.

Here is a thread i posted with a Female with some neonates
if anyone would care to take a look.

This forum is full of knowledge and is a great resource. The way it is set up is useful.

As far as calling the set up pretentious... you have only been here a little while. I'm sure after posting for a while you will understand why it is set up the way it is.

Even veiled keepers can be quite intelligent, some people soak up knowledge a little better by reading than others do. :)

How many chameleons do you keep? Would love to see an introduction post from you. :)

I hear ya! But that's why certain private, experienced keeper email lists still exist. ;)

I have in fact been looking around on this forum for quite some time.

I no longer keep any chameleons i much prefer finding observing and photographing the vast amount of species that Occour in Souther African

But if you'd like to know in the past i have kept

Bradypodium thamnobates
Bradypodium melanocephalum
Bradypodion damaranum
Bradypodion transvaalense
Chamaeleo dilepis
Bred all of these species excluding the below
Furcifer pardalis (Ambanja)

For myself my lies not in keeping and looking at these animals through some glass but naturally although im sure many will disagree.

I just made my point , now that my thread was moved on the Bradypodium i can not reply to any questions being asked or comment on the thread further which is rather silly?

So if anyone would like to know anything in regard to that thread please feel free to Private message me, except for the few who messaged me asking to send them chameleons :/

Really!?!? Well that is silly. I'll look into that. In the meantime I'll move it to General Photography so everyone can participate fully.

Can you send me some chameleons? :p

I think quite a few of us would agree!!:) Unfortunately most of us do not live in an area to see chameleons in their natural habitat. Since this is a U.S. based forum most of us are from the US but we are lucky to have some members from many parts of the world. And also members like you who get to tease us with threads like you posted.

Unfortunately so.
You know the funny thing is seeing all these indigenous Bradypodium species available oversea's knowing they have been illegally smuggled out of South Africa because by law you can not keep Bradypodium here nor export.
