New MistKing Timers!

Other than the awesome looks I really don't see this being better than the original. It has all the same features as the original except the fact that it can be used on 110 and 220 volts which is mostly a pro for the manufacturer do to the fact he doesn't have to manufacture two separate units. It would only be a pro to us if the convenience would have mint cheaper prices, but in light of the fact this is $14.00 more than the original that just is not the case. And the fact that it can only be used on Mistking products is really a con not a pro, and only favors the manufacturer. ;)

But, but, but the awesome looks! :D

The manual override is a nice feature. I have a MistKing, so I will probably use the new timer on the MK and move my old seconds timer to another system, maybe the automated dripper I've been thinking about making.

I will break you, NO one picks on my girl. Wait til her hubby finds out!!!! Buzzkill. What do I know, I am a knuckle draggin' hand mister. :D I am sure Santa will hook you up! :p
(All in good humor)

The display does look pretty cool. If it is able to be mounted remotely from either the pump or power supply for the pump that would be great.

The pumps are 24v. DC and I am assuming the controller is switching the DC side of the power supply so it could be adapted to any other pump with the same voltage requirements.

I wish they would have made one that was universal 110v. out of the box. It could be used to control lighting as well.

This is kinda dumb. The Mistking runs off of a 24vdc switch mode power supply. This timer goes inbetween the power supply and the pump. Why on earth did they not make the thing run off of 24vdc? Yes this timer needs yet another brick to power it. So you have a dc brick for the pump, and a dc brick for the timer...

Oh thats easy. Just get a computer notebook charger, pop it in the power in section. Then just get a 120vac relay with a coil rated for the notebook charger voltage.

I was trying to see how they installed it from web pics. I thought they could just run it inline off the pump power supply. Need more details lol

For the price they are charging there are other controllers out there for a little more money that can control multiple line voltage and low voltage devices.

Yea the old one was a nice wall timer that interupted the ac. This new one looks junk.

And here is what they dont tell you, only 9 events per day. You can get a seconds timer for $15. This $45 still can only mist 9 times a day...

This is the exact same feature set, only is AC.

Now there is a great idea! I too have been thinking about an automated dripping system. I was thinking about incorporating this what do you think?

^ Exactly, something like this.

I was thinking about a dosing/low power pump with a drip valve rather than a gravity fed dripper reservoir. I was thinking to reduce my clean water down to one source for simplicity. I tried some time ago to have the mister line feed into the dripper reservoir to keep it automatically refilled, but since it was up top with my lights, I had trouble with algae growth and keeping the dripper reservoir clean.

I was thinking one could run several lines by use of the on/off control valves you get for an aquarium air supply. Of Course you would be limited by the pumps power. Might need to find some kind of check valve to keep the pump from going dry, and loosing its prime do to the times it's not on. Don't know if that would be an issue or not.:) Let me know what you come up with when you are done, and I'll do the same compare notes so to speak.

Bought myself a present! Thought I would go ahead and give the new mistking timer a try. I'll use my old MK timer to run my dripper pump.

I haven't hooked it up just yet. I've started getting everything set up for my new little friend. Taking my time to get it all just right. Now I just need a break in the cold weather!

Herd that I want to give pigmy chams a try, but it will have to wait until it warms up, and my vivarium matures. Goo luck :)

I am looking forward to hearing how it works out. It seems like it would be really nice to be able to mount the timer where it's easy to get at. I have to climb underneath a table to get at the timers for my geckos, quad and pygs. Plus I really like how it looks. :)

Exactly! I want to hide all the wires, but anytime I want to manually override, I can't get to the controllers! I like that you set the start time then duration in this model, rather than start and end times. Less opportunity to mix up the settings, for me at least.

I'll post more when I get it set up.

these are really neat -- nice to see the upgrade from the older version. I have more than a few broken mistking timers that now serve as clocks.
