I recently purchased my first juvenile veiled, he's about 5 months, his name's Bosco. I bought a 60w daylight blue reptile bulb that the guy at the pet store said was their fave. It's UVB and heat, but my tank never gets above 80 degrees, about 40-60 humidity. Do I still need to get a separate basking bulb or is this sufficient??? He eats well, poops, only seen him drink once. I love him already, he's just too cute and too cool!!

You NEED a UVB bulb (linear preferred)
Ok yes that's probably right. I do have a separate UVB bulb that he sits under during the day, the usually moves under the other one in the evening. Should I get another basking bulb? My UVB is not a linear....

Well if you have a UVB and the daylight blue I dont think you need another. How big is your cage though? (Be warned the daylight blue burn out VERY quickly!)

This is Bosco hanging out. Along with the waterfall thing I have. I wonder if that's ok or should I do a dropper instead??

Ok thank you!!! His cage is 18x24 tall. I've read the bulb only lasts about 6 months?

I hope that one plastic plant/vine isn't being held on with tape. If the tape comes off the glass and sticks to your chameleon that can cause an issue.
Where and how are you measuring the temperature? The basking temp should be taken in the spot your chameleon is meant to sit and bask under the heat lamp. It will be higher than the branch itself, since your chameleon's head and back will be higher than where it's perching. I like to use a heat gun for spot checking and a digital thermometer with a probe inside the enclosure.

It is being held by tape for now, I'm not sure how else to secure it! He hasn't sat on it the past 2 days tho, so that makes me wonder. Any ideas how else I can secure it?? I'm new to this but devoted to making him totally happy. I think I need to take it apart, but still not sure how to secure it to the top of the cage

This is his current home. I have this vine that he likes, along with the hanging greenery, but he has been hanging onto this cord the past 2 days. I just want him to be happy! Help!! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

use suction cups, thats what i used when i had a glass cage for him

also take out the waterfall, it can create mold very easily and can be harmful for your cham
I've tried gluing a suction cup, didn't stick. A zip tie is a great idea, thank you!! As for the "waterfall", I've worried about mold. I think I'll take that out and do a drip system with a cup at the bottom to catch it, so I can empty/clean that daily.

I'm open to any ideas/hints as this is my first Cham. I want him to be happy and healthy. Thanks to everyone for your input!! I appreciate it so much!

Stop right now and take the tape out immediately. If for some/any reason his tongue gets hung up on that tape it's gonna be a terrible death. Go do it now.

Now, that the scarey part is behind you, the waterfall is cool but he needs to see the shiny drops land on the leaves. It gets him looking and he will put his tongue in the drops. It's very cool to see their pointy little tongues lick at drops even when they are still going thru the air......

yea u should really take out the tape, it can be really dangerous and plus it can break at any time!! Buy an automatic mister they are really good. You can buy them at you local pet store or even online.
