So I got my 3 month old baby boy and baby girl on friday, I havent really been handleing them except to clean their terrarium, because they are so young I dont want to handle them too much. They eat good and seem healthy. At the place I got them they were very friendly and wanted to be held, both of them even went to slepp on each of my fingers while my boyfriend got the terrarium set up for them. But since then they have seemed more scared of me, My question is how can I get my chameleons to like me, and do they reconize me? Or will it all be up to them in time?
Please any advice to help me be a great mommy to my new babies!!!

My girl in action, and my boy just chillin after his misting :)

What about tong feeding? I can't handle touching the bugs lol. And also I heard a black light at night is good for heat and they dont register the light?? Dont really know about that though... Is it okay for no light at all at night? And how does showering them work?? I mist them and they dont really like it most of the time..

i have seen people use tongs but hand feeding is SO much better, trust me on that one. but the best way to start is with a cup with the food in it. they will associate the cup with food, cup=food, therefore cup=good, hand brings cup therefore hand=good. hand brings food with no cup, hand=awesome, i love hand! lol
not sure about the black light. my chams dont have a black light at night. i just male sure the temps are right. and my adult loves being sprayed but my babies/juveniles hate it. so just get the leaves and such wet so they can drink from them.

No light necessary at night. If your temps drop into the 50's, you can use a ceramic heat emitter.

I would love to be able to hand feed but I cant get myself to want to touch the bugs lol. Thank you for the advice guys.. & even for veiled it okay before 50's I heard they tend to like more heat then panthers and such.
Do they look good and healthy??

they look good to me. sooo adorable :)

They do like the heat during the day. Adult Males are good up into the 90's, adult females low-mid 80's. Young ones should be around mid 80's? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...Night temps can get into the upper 50's without concern.

My baby girl was mistaken for a boy at the pet shop, She throws off some really good nice color. I was only going to get him, but i fell in love with her too! & he is laid back about everything, doesnt even act like he is hunting half the time lol just gets it out of no where. I'm proud to own them both :)

Thank you very good to know!! I have been keeping them at high 80's during they day with lots of shade and a homemade dripper for water while I'm at work.

lol. sounds like my panthers. jewel will chase every cricket down and get right up on them but Zip just shoots his tongue out and gets them all the way across the cage without blinking. what are their names? they have names yet?

As long as they can escape the basking spot, you should be fine. They'll find a nice spot that'll work between the heat and ambient temps...

yup. one of mine chams favorite spot is actually right under the heat lamp, under a leaf. its a giant leaf that acts as an umbrella and its got to be right under the heat or she will flip out.

if no ones said anything your probly gona wana seperate them when their a little bigger
also congrats <3 chameleons

Congrats on the new veileds they're both adorable, the tongs are deffinitly a good way to start getting both you and the chams used to you feeding them. (Thin metal tongs are less intimidating than a big hand)

Hello, welcome to the forum :) Your little babies are so sweet, reminds me of when mine were young :D Here's a great caresheet I always recommend to new owners with Veileds - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
Are you keeping them separate now? 4 months old is about the limit for separating them.

no she is not going to seperate them til 6 or 7 months. I told her that in another thread to seperate them. If people do not want to take GOOD advice that is offered. That is when I bow out.....
