Hi, I'm new to this so bare with me.

We have a bearded dragon she's is 2 and have just got a panther chameleon 2 days ago, he's probably around 6 months - 1year. I just noticed today one of his eyes looks a little glazed, the other looks completely fine bright and black.

I'm new to the Cham thing so here's a few pictures (it's not great he's difficult to take pics of as constantly climbing). Should I be worried or is this maybe just him starting to shed?

Thanks for your reply, I have to try and find a vet local enough to us tk not stress him. Has anyone had anything similar to this they could suggest what it was?

I'm not experienced with eye issues, but definitely looks like somethings going on. Fill out the "how to ask for help" and post it here.

Btw very cool looking cham! Hope things work out for you and your guy.

I've spoken to the shop we got him from today, they're very helpful. They've suggested he may be dehydrated, he only really drinks first thing in the morning when I spray him and also were in a "hard water" area so maybe he is reacting to it, will try bottled water or repti safe. If not they've said to try be a Beaphar eye & skin ointment.

Thanks he is beautiful :) your guy is a beautiful colour too!

it doesn't look like dehydration is what is causing that, but i'm not sure, i'm not an expert by any means. Have to wait for one of the good health people to chime in. I've heard vitamin A deficiencies can cause eye problems. This almost looks like an infection of some sort. You really need to fill out the "ask for help" any of the more experienced people here are going to need that to give you answers.

Just trying to help where i can, chams go downhill fast. You see a lot of people lose their cham out of seemingly nowhere. they don't show many signs until they're on the way out.

Please don't wait and fill out the info for the forum guru's to look over and find a vet ASAP! Please don't find excuses to not take him. I'm not a pro, but if you wait too long he could lose his sight in that eye or worse!

Yeah i agree^ i just meant, if you want to pinpoint whatever caused it, the help form will need to be filled out.

It looks like an infection from the pictures.

Also not to bash your pet store, but most of them are pretty limited on knowledge, even if they mean well.

They are a reptile store and one of the most reputable in the south. They know their stuff pretty well tbh. But thanks.

Believe me that is not dehydration and if they sold you that chameleon with an eye looking like that, well shame on them. That looks like an infection to me. If you do not treat it, your chameleon can lose its eyesight. You will need an antibiotic which will require a vet visit. There is a chance already the eye is damaged. And sorry, they dont know their stuff, or atleast chameleons if they said that was dehydration. Please take him to the vet.

A reptile store that sells an animal in that condition is not reputable. I have a pet store in my area that people consider reputable but in all actuality it's not, he just talks a good game. So just because people think yours is reputable it doesn't mean it is or that the animals are receiving adequate care.

He has been to the vets today and is on eye drops and antibiotics. He has also been cleaned up and had swabs taken. The vet said he was very healthy otherwise and his is now looking healthy. He said this may be caused due to the stressed of moving or possibly knocking his eye on substrate/anything.

Thank you to the people who have helped I just wanted advice.

Also as I side note we do have a compact uv setup which we are changing to a tube the weekend as a secondary precaution to the vet treatment, I see a lot of posts mentioning that this could be related to eye issues

Thanks again

If they sold you an animal with puss in its eye and then said it was dehydration, they're playing you. What makes them so reputable? Does a vet work there. Sorry just don't like when people ask questions, don't want the answer though. You should be filling out the ask for help regardless. If that takes too much time for you i can't imagine you are able to put time in caring for your guy to begin with.

Jamest0o0, please read everything before you post and give someone grief. PandoraExplorer has taken her Cham to the vet and has gotten meds for it. It is being treated appropriately.

Where am i giving grief? Truth sucks sometimes dude. If it is uncalled for let a moderator step in, either way i'll leave this thread be. I don't want an argument, just can't stand passive aggressive responses that are counterproductive. Don't see why the thing can't be filled out if everything is good.
