Closed eyes

I came back home to give Sherbert his antibiotics, and when I picked him up, he moved his eyes around but would not open them. He is reacting like it hurts to open his eyes, I don't know he is having a reaction to his antibiotic, or if this is from the high number of Protozoal. He slightly opens them, cleans them out and closes them again. I attached a video so y'all can see what I'm talking about.

The vet said to give him his medicine, he thinks he is just dehydrated, but I'm not sure about that. He is very lethargic and still isn't opening his eyes. The vet also said he needed his humidity at 90% during the day, and that surely isn't true, right? I put another dripper in there so he can have more places to drink from. He refused to eat any of the bugs I have available, hoping the Silkworms will be here soon so that is an option. All his temperatures are on point, and I replaced his UVB and basking lights early, to see if that would help. I just hope he starts to feel better very soon.

What antibiotic is he on?
Did the vet say which Protozoa it is that he has?
Can you get a good clear photo of the arm he’s not using please?

Here are pictures of the antibiotics, diagnosis paperwork, and his arm.

I wonder if there are side effects for metronidazole that could be playing a part in the behaviour? Or if the heaviness of the Protozoa load die off could be a part of it?
I'll mention that to the vet... He said If he doesn't get any better in the next few days to take him back in to see if there is something else that is going on.

Sending a hug. 😔

This is just like how my Treebeard was with his eyes. He just got diagnosed with Coccidia. Keep checking poops would be my recommendation. I’m sorry he is feeling so rotten. Sending you and him lots of hugs.

Thank you! I’ll be running fecal tests any time I have the chance. The silkworms I ordered are delayed and won’t be here for another day or two, hopefully he will eat those and we can run some more fecal tests.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and hugs! It means so very much to me that I have this community for support through hard times ❤️❤️

I feel the same way. This hobby would be so hard without everyone here.

The vet called after I sent a picture and thinks it might be the start of an infection. I was freaking out when I saw him close his eyes but now that he’s moving around and eating some food I feel a lot better.

Thank you all for your support and help ❤️
Very happy to see this. I just saw your post and I felt so bad for Sherbert :( And you. Glad he's rebounding! I hope he continues to do so.
