New Panther Checkup

I got Desmond for Valentine's Day and I adore him.

He's about 3 years old, in a 24X24X48 reptibreeze, MistKing on every two hours for 30 seconds and hand misting twice a day, Reptisun LED UVB terrarium hood with red, white, and blue little spot lights and a 60w red heat bulb. Eating three or so dubias by hand, doesn't seem as interested in crickets (they seem to bite him), occasional superworms and a rare horn worm. Feces is normal with a little yellow in the end of the urates. Humidity between 45-60, temps 72ish in the day and 65 at night, substrate is a layer of paper towels for humidity (I live in Colorado and it's SO dry here) with a cold humidifier running all the time. I haven't checked the basking temp. Two large ficuses.

Repashy without D3 every third day, haven't started with the D3 yet but I'm headed to the store later to get some. Lights are on 12 hours off 12.

Everything seems to be going swimmingly but I the reptile store who had him for a year+ had him in with an adult female savannah monitor and they said he could eat around 15 crickets a day so far Desi doesn't seem to be that hungry. Is this an adjustment period or was she just eating more of them?

Is there anything that I am doing wrong or should be changed? I really haven't handled him except to move him to his larger enclosure. He stays on the top branch when I clean his cage. I don't want to stress him out but you know, cage needs to get cleaned... I'm just going to wait for him to come around as he was the stores display animal and so we're just building trust for now (he's even been on TV!).

I just want to give him the best care I can. Any tips would be great! IMG_7662.JPG IMG_7679.JPG IMG_7689.JPG IMG_7697.JPG IMG_7698.JPG

Find out what your basking temp is asap if he isn't warm enough that could affect his appetite. He could also be adjusting to his new cage but you won't know until you confirm his temps.
He's a good looking chameleon. Congrats.

I would also suggest ditching the red heat light and opting for a bright white incandescent house bulb. And as said above, make sure you know the temps at the basking spot.

I would also suggest upping a couple of the mistking sessions to a couple of minutes. I have mine go off 5 times a day. Once for 5 minutes and the rest at 2 1/2 minutes. Longer sessions will stimulate them to drink plus give them the chance to clean out the eyes. With a mistking you don't need to hand mist unless you really enjoy it.

Since he's an adult you can boost his basking temp up closer to 90˚. The house bulb Peachypink mentioned should do the trick.
