NEW PICS, and Help me rename Picasso!

Well, here's some pics I took just a little bit ago while my little guy was sleeping. He woke up for his face shot but fell back asleep as I snapped a few more. You can see how much better the bumps on his face are getting, they look wet because of the mister just going off a couple minutes beforehand, and it's hard to even see where most of the bumps on his body were. He IS a bit overweight though, even the vet had mentioned something about it, so once he's tip top a diet is DEFINATELY in his near future. He's actually got a fat roll on the back of his neck. lol. Poor guy but I guess it's better he be a bit chubby then emaciated considering.

Anyway, like I said in the past post, I really think I want to give him a new name, now that he has a whole new life I think he deserves a whole new name. Something a bit more fitting for him after all he's been through. What do you all think I should rename him? So far I really like Rocky but lemme know whatcha got!

by the way, ignore the obvious "spot removal" area in the one picture, after I took it I realized not only was my entire face in the background but I was making an INCREDIBALY unladylike face while I focused on getting the shot...fyi...:p

Wow. That really isn't even better than being emaciated both are bad no matter how you put it. That guys fat pads look like they're ready to explode! you seriously need to cut down on the feeding, and watch his diet better like you already mentioned. What are you using to gut load?

He is quite a beauty...little chubby, but a beauty. Rocky is a cool name, really cannot help much more. I am very particular with names and they usually suit the color, attitude, etc. I currently have Morpheus, Scarlet, and Vulcan (The fire god, not Star-Trek lol) I also have liked Loki a lot and I have always been especially fond of Greek mythology names. I take forever to pick the perfect name :p Good Luck...can't wait to see what you choose.

I'm not sure if you have been following the posts on Picasso, but he was a rescue and sounds like he was in pretty rough shape. If you read his story you will see he is on the mend due to diligent care. I'm sure his owner plans to address his weight, but I would agree in times of illness its better for him to have a bit of reserve weight, particularly if he experiences any loss of appetite from medications.

Great job on his recovery. And i also agree that being a little overweight is much better than being under. Plus itll be easier to correct.

But anyway how about Takini? It comes from the Sioux language meaning "Survivor".

Yes I'm quite aware of his story and understand the conditions he used to be in weren't all that great nor correct. I simply made my post so the OP new its nothing to joke around about. NOW I'm not saying hes joking about it but he said,

"He IS a bit overweight though"
'' lol. Poor guy but I guess it's better he be a bit chubby then emaciated considering."

A bit is not what he is, He is really overweight I just thought I needed to point how how dangerous obesity can cause damage and major health issues. The OP could get Picasso out of the blue and then all of sudden hes getting ill due too being overweight. You need to review the facts and look at whats better for the cham Ninkylou.

Chillax. No need to hijack this thread with arguments.

The OP is addressing one problem at a time - abscesses take priority. I'm sure the cham is already on a much healthier diet than before and given that medications often are reported to lower appetite, he will shed that fat in no time, I'm sure.

Anyway...

I can't believe how much better he looks already. Just a little bit of care returned him to a gorgeous lizard. Look at those colors! His face is healing so well! Congrats and best of luck to both of you!

I agree he looks so much better ...he is really going to be a looker when he is back to full health.

The weight may be still part of the inflammation due to the infections running though his system. Remember that he did have sever inflammatory lacerations and lesions. As his infection level decreases I feel that a lot of the "weight" will be no more than fluid build up from the poor care he had been in. ;)

Good morning!

Wow, my little girl FINALY let me sleep past 9am today (first time since she was born!) or I woulda caught the argument that seems to be growing. Lemme try to remedy it.

First lemme apologize, I know it's not a joking matter, I always take my reptiles health very seriously, I'm just a bit elated about Picassos remarkable recovery. What I ment was, considering the condition he came to me in, I really do feel it's better he came overweight then emaciated because that at least signifies that he's eating well (which he is) or if decided to stop eating he won't be in as much danger since he has plenty of fat stores then if he came to me skin and bones. Sorry, my fault! Should have explained that so no more need for arguing!

As far as his diet, from what the original owner told me, he was on a diet almost completely consisting of waxworms, butter worms, and crickets! No wonder he's fat!
Since getting him here I've cut out all the wax and butter worms, just fat and water anyway, and have been giving him 10 calcium dusted crix a day. I gutload all my feeder bugs with flukers gutload and crixcet water and various fruits and veggies that I change out every other day.
I plan on switching to dubia roaches soon, my husband and I have been trying to find a BIG group of breeder bugs, like an established breeding colony. I also have a bunch of beardies who are also eating me out of house and home and crix are just too stinky to breed so I've decided to go with dubia after a lot of research.

I love the Native name meaning survivor! It's not right in front of me so can't think of it but I REALLY REALLY like it! That has moved to first place!

I have a ton of Dubias that I need to get rid of as Omar is not a fan. I want to keep some hoping at some point when he is bigger, he may decide to eat them. I also have an empty cricket shipping container. If you want I can send you a bunch to get you started. All you need for their home is a big plastic bin. I cut out parts of the lid and glued screen over it for ventilation. Ghann's website has an awesome water thing that uses a sponge etc, it is very cool, so you don't have to mess around with crystals. Let me know. If you want them you can PM me your info and I can pop them in the mail.

Wow!

Yes, most definitely! Thankyou so much! I have a big blue tote already set up for them, just haven't had the money to buy um, between Picassos vet bill and my 6 month old needing winter stuff (I love little sweaters!) it's kinda been put on the bottom of my "to-do" list. Ill pm you right now:)

I am so happy he is doing well - I shutter to think if you had not saved him , he is a SURVIVOR ;) ( hint hint on the name :p ) and I also love how we all help each other - that is great ridgebax1 that you are sending those to her - just one more reason I love this forum - its like a big ol'e family :D
