As most of you know we like to use the Costco wire racks to keep our cages on... Well, as our animal count grows and grows we find ourselves needing something that is more space efficient... I decided to use all the extra shelves that came with the Costco racks that we are not using a build my own racks using them as the bottom.
So I went down to the Home Depot and loaded up the truck with some wood and hardware and began to build.
I made them large enough to house 5 large cages on the bottom and 5-6 cages on the top. The top cages are tilted back so that the water drips into a gutter that drains into a bucket, same as the bottom...
I wired them so that each rack is controlled by one light timer on the front; I was tired of standing on my head to mess with them when they were behind the cages.
On the far left I have my herp mist pump, timer and temp/humidity gauge. I wired an extension onto the probe so I can test every cage if I wanted to.
I still need to finish making all my new cages... You can see the pile of screen on the left. Ugh anybody wana help build some cages?
Its an easy project that only took a few hours to do, if you have some extra shelves it might be worth the cost. for the 3 racks I built it was around $100 bucks..
