New to Chams- Enclosure question

My son asked for a chameleon for his 11th birthday. We are researching and collecting things for his enclosure before we search for our new addition. I know we will be asking for a male veiled- and naming him Chewy. We have purchased a 2'x2'x4' reptibreeze enclosure. I have seen some people have lined the back and sides or just the back of their enclosures w/ trash bags or plastic wrap to help w/ humidity and save the walls from being wet all the time. Does the wrapping have to be changed? Does it mold? How often should it be changed? For those that have all mesh sided enclosures and do not use automated misting, will moisture escape onto walls and such? There is so much to learn. And I have to admit that I am a bit intimidated by everything at the moment. but we are excited as well. Any help on this issue would be appreciated. I'm sure I will have more questions to come. Thank you.

I just wrapped one side and the back of mine with a shower curtain liner, didn't think of the trash bag idea. With other materials, like tubing for misters and such they do say to use the black so that algae and mold don't grow, so that might work. I plan to just keep an eye on mine and if I see mold then I will change it, but for me this is a short term plan. I am eventually going to get clear plexiglass and window screen toggles to mount to the cage so it looks a little less tacky than plastic.

When I use sheet plastic to cover the cage I like using clear vinyl shower curtains. They hang nice and straight and you can attach them to the top of the cage frame using their grommet holes. If you fold the bottom edges loosely but don't attach this edge it forms a gutter that will hold overspray that runs down. If anything's going to get moldy this would be the place for it. Very easy to clean if you leave the plastic attachment simple I just use light gauge wire or zip ties across the top of the cage frame. Doesn't need to be tightly sealed. Easy to change out. Black bags will really make the cage dark. I set the cage stand on an office chair mat or piece of vinyl flooring to protect carpet or wood floors. If the cage will be set close to a wall or furniture they will probably get sprayed sometimes, so if you are concerned about that just cover the screen panels closest to them. If the overspray has a chance to dry after every misting it probably won't mold. I've never had that happen. Eventually if your water is hard there will be a build up of evaporated water spots, but again, keep the plastic sheeting simple to remove so you can clean it. Vinegar will remove hard water spots. Some vinyl shower curtains can go through the washing machine, or you can hang them up outside, hose them off, and let dry. Do NOT use materials that are impregnated with mold killers...they are toxic!

There are lots of ideas shown in some sticky threads at the top of this forum.

My daughter is 12 and she's the reason we brought a chameleon into our home. I thought I'd researched pretty good on their care and was so happy to find this site and learn even more helpful info to make his life better.
