hello I am new to the forums and in fact new to panther chameleons. I just got this little guy 3 days ago and was promised it was 100% nosy faly male. I have no idea how to sex panther chameleons and want to make sure that I got what I paid for.

I don't know his age im guessing 3 months old as the breeder said that is the youngest they release them at, he is pretty small.

Thanks guys, let me know if you need clearer pictures, as these were just from my phone.

Hi and welcome :)

You can tell the sex of a panther bu looking for a bulge at the base of the tail and sometimes the colouring but colouring can be difficult when they're young and sometimes females can have whacky colours too!

I'm pretty sure I see a little man bulge down there so my GUESS is male.

for the veiled chameleon his back feet has like a little toe in the back like a bump ! but i couldnt tell you for yours maybe its the same! hope someone give you a better answer then me ! good luck nice chameleon btw :)

thanks for the tips guys, is there any pro's on here that can be 100% certain what sex my little one is? I seen a couple guys on here say they can be sexed right out of the egg and are confident about it. Hopefully one of them chimes in here and is 100% sure what my little dude is.

Yes there are lots that are good with this. I would post on the ID or Breeders forum. And if you could take a better pic from the side of the base of the tail it will help. :)

Pretty sure you have a little boy there, the best pic would be with the tail fully extended but I'm fairly sure I spy a bulge. I would also hope your breeder would be sure before sending him out to you

I would say female also. Usually by that age it seems like the bulge is very noticeable. Yours doesn't seem to have one

Yeah from the picture we can see, looks female.

But that pic really is awful. We need one where you have lots of light and a high resolution shot...tail extended.

I wouldn't necessarily count on a bulge just yet because these babies have not really developed. You look more or less at the area where the bulge will be and determine if it looks full (MALE) or a bit slim/less full (FEMALE). Still, "pros" and breeders can get it wrong if seen in the wrong light or if a female has a thick tail.

More pics and I'm sure you'll get someone else willing to say definitively. Why didn't the breeder sex this cham?

They did, they said it was 100% nosy faly male. But it looks pretty green to me to be faly??? definitely a better picture with natural lighting and tail base extended would help!

okay i'll get you guys a new picture in 30 mins. Thanks to everyone helping so far! And yes the breeder promised me it was a male, or I wouldnt have spent the amount of money I did. I will not drop any names as im not sure if the breeder uses this forum.

Picture coming soon

sex

I would say male. Not only can you see the making of a bulge (some are more pronounced than others at that age) you can tell by the diameter of his tail compared to his body.

Also his coloring says male as well after about 2.5 mos the green on females are almost always more of a minty almost light blue with a lot black and white still compared to the males starting to get some pretty solid greens. Still hard to tell without monitoring him up close.

Hmmmm...

Well, with that tail extended im going to have to say female. I stand corrected! I thought I saw a bulge but with the tail strait out it looks like there's nothing there afterall.

I think it's a girl. the color can not yet understand with certainty because of the young age, but it sounds like a feminine color (small panthers females are lighter than males), despite the locality. tail suggests a female for the small scale .. So I think she s 100% female. If the colors still leave some doubt the tail removes them all

That looks like a female. I would go ahead and contact the breeder and let him know so you can work out something else. You shouldn't have to pay an extra $50-100+ for a male and not get it.
