New to the site and to Chameleons

hello,
my son and i just bought a baby Chameleon and wanted to post up;)
my son is 7 so ofcourse He named him Rango:eek:

thanks;) yup ive been looking into it for a while now but advise is always welcome, i need to get a better mister and a few more vines because the cage is so big and he is only about 2.5 inches long.
 
What kind of cage is he in? it looks glass.

its a glass one,it had an as seen on TV sticker lol, my petsmart was closing down so i got it for really cheap, im most likely going to be building one this summer though, he doesnt like his reflection to much.

Nope that's one reason no glass... Also veileds need a screen or wire cage for airflow, they are arid arboreal chameleons. So you will need to move him to something else unfortunately. Do you want to fill this out for us so we can help you keep him nice and healthy:

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located?

That's fine :) a day doesn't hurt anyway. It's the long term stuff we want to catch before anything happens that can be life threatening. Only want the best for your little guy :)

me too, thanks man, ill post it all up asap, it does have screen on top and a vent about 1/4 of the way up the front door. i was thinking about making the glass door screen for now too.

That would be good, the more ventilation the better.

here is the info you asked for;)
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - its a valied male about a month or so old. had him 2 days now.
Handling - i was told not to handle for at lease a month.
Feeding - crickets 5 to 7 a day, dropping out of the bag
Supplements - drop them in every other morning, dust them with "zoo med Repti calcium with D3.
Watering - mist 2-3 times a day, spray bottle for now,making a mister. he drinks off the leaves and himself.
Fecal Description - brown and no he has not been tested yet.
History -he is young, he turns yellow and green as of now and he seems a little scared of my son and I.
Cage Info:
Cage Type -its glass with a screen top, the front opens and has a vent at the bottom of the door. it is 30"H 17"wide and 18" deep.
Lighting - the lights are Repti halogen, 75 watts day time and 55 watts at night.
Temperature - the temp is around 80 and around 75 at night, gauges from petco are how i measure temp.
Humidity -the humidity is pretty low rt now, around 35 to 40, i will be buying a fogger when i get paid on the first of this month though. i measure humidity with gauges from petco.
Plants -im using fake for now.
Placement - it is in my sons room in a corner, it is about 7ft from the vent and fan,and it is about mid level of the room. i told my son to enter his room slower than usual so he doesnt scare Rango.
Location - we live west hills ca.(the valley ish area).
