Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to the cham world. Bearded dragons have been my specialty. I have had my Jackson's for about 3 months and he has been thriving. Gaining weight by the day.
But a couple of days ago I noticed a mite crawling on him. I have treated him and the enclosure. I have seen no more mites since the treatment. However just before I treated I noticed he was holding one of his eyes shut. The mites probably got in his eye?
He still eats his worms and crickets with one eye, and I just picked up some Gentamicin ointment from my vet.
How worried should I be that he won't pull through this?:(

Don't stress.....

It's hard to tell if the eye closure is due to a mite or some other irratation. The eye medicine should help resolve it. Misting or showering him a bit more than usual might help too. If you don't see any improvement in a day or two I would take him in to the vet. The vet will have a special scope to see if there is any injury to the eye. As long as he is still eating I would not stress out over this. Just keep an "eye" on him and take him to the vet if it stays the same or immediately if it gets worse. Welcome to the forum too by the way!

He is taking the treatment like a champ. He sucked in a cricket seconds after I put the ointment on his eye. WOOHOO!
