new veiled cage .. switched and now eating plant not sure if save?! HELP

yesterday i installed my new cage and
switched my veiled to his new home since i move
from house to my veiled did also get a upgrade to 1 meter 20 high to 1 meter wide 60 depth ... i had a plant in it called eternal flame ..
or the other name calathea crocata
and if you look closley its in the left corner of my cage..
i saw him biting it 2 times.. and after that i removed it for a ficus..
but i thought it look like a bromelia so jungle likes plant..
and thought it would be save hope i dindt maked a big mistake ...
any advice??

If you exchanged it for a ficus it should be fine. I've never heard of anyone using an "eternal flame" with their chams so I can't tell you if they are poisonous or not. One thing I noticed though in your enclosure is the wood chips on the bottom. If you are free-feeding (not cup-feeding) you should probably take that out. They look like they might be a little large for your chameleon to handle if he were to accidentally ingest one.

Can't seem to find anything g about wether it's toxic or not (which leads me to believe that its not.) I think it'll be ok since it now removed. It would be great to find out for sure though since its ideal conditions are the same as a chameleon. It could help let ya know if your humidity/temps are good.

Thats why i took larger wood chips..
But he is stilk get used to his new enclosure..
And i do cupfeed but ofc there always a few that

But that leaves me with 1 qeustion my chameleon
Realy never eated my plants and now he was sitting on
His vein and he realy bitted it.. 2 times but dindy got any
Leaves of it.. So removed it it kinda schocked me

If I can't find out if the plant is safe, I assume it is not. I prefer not to risk it just in case. If it is on a safe plant list for chameleons, it should be safe for him. Often times a flowering plant will be eaten more readily than a non flowering plant. My veiled tends to not eat plants unless I offer them to him directly or if the plant has flowers.

As for the wood chips, I don't recommend them. If you feel like you need to have a substrate, I would suggest a very fine/sifted soil (or a soil and sand mixture) so if he eats any it is less likely to cause a blockage or death. Chameleons can eat very large pieces of bark and wood and it can cause a lot of damage to the animal if he does.

I had a problem with my chameleon eating plants until i started providing fresh kake, mustard or collard greens every day. He eats quite a bit, and is no longer interested in the plants. I'm glad the plant your guy ate is not toxic.

I've looked a lot for safe chameleon plants and found out that a hibiscous is good for them and the flowers are good for them to eat people siad its better than ficus
