New Veiled Chameleon, and new member!

Yesterday, I acquired a juvenile male veiled chameleon from....Petco...yeah...I know... Haha..anyway, the reptiles at that Petco looked healthy, and my cham doesn't show signs of sickness. (keeping fingers crossed due to their lackluster reputation.) The animals were kept surprisingly well to my knowledge... and my chameleon is a good eater, (I saw him eat at the store) which is a good sign. I've done quite a bit of research on these animals before I purchased, and I figured finally joining this forum could provide me new insight on keeping chameleons, as well as sharing experiences, and learning from other members :)

Welcome to the forums. Do you have a picture of your new friend and his setup?

Welcome to the best way to learn about chams I have learned so much and I hope you do to

Alright yeah no clue on age...I'm going to guess 5-6 months? He's only about 4-5 inches. My profile pic is a good pic of setup, he's in an exo Terra for now, I'm getting a large screen cage as soon as he grows a bit. I don't want to put a small chameleon in a huge cage, and exo Terra provides good ventilation. I have a dish for humidity purposes, (he has a dripper for drinking water). The stores were out of the UVB bulb size I need, I'm heading out tomorrow for that, but he has his heat lamp and everything else setup. :) He definitely doesn't like bright blue....

LOL thats a bummer that they didn't make sure of the sex for you. But either way you'll enjoy your cham, they are very cool. I just purchased my chameleon at Petco as well. His doing pretty well and turns out he's a translucent veiled chameleon (Petco is a joke). People here are very helpful and friendly here, you're in great hands.. Good luck with your new friend.

Wow, that's awesome! Even though I just got my veiled, I sort of want a panther now too x_x. They are like potato chips
...can't just have one! I'm in the process of building her a screen cage.

Thats what happened to me i got my veiled on a sunday and as i was doing research, I came across the panther chameleon. Right off the bet i wanted it. So the following day I purchased one. They are a whole lot calmer than the veiled and not as grumpy at all. Just expensive. Try FLCHAMS.COM. Mike will help you out with anything.

I'll check it out! I'm really swamped with performance and concert practices so I'm not getting any more animals any time soon, but who knows?
