Hi, i have a new baby yemen chameleon and the setup i have is perfet everything is exactly how it should be, i was just wondering how long it roughly takes for him to settle in and start eating, we've had him about 5 days and so far he hasnt eaten, do i just need to be patient? Any advice would be good. Thank you :)

I have never had a Yemen, but mine took two days to settle in, we didn't even walk in the room with him for two days. We completely stayed away.

Thanks for your reply, we cant really not go in there because its in my bedroom, its been 5 days he hasnt eaten.

Everythings how it should be because iv had chameleons before but never from a baby.

With all due respect,
if he has not been eating for 5 days and you are concerned for his health, you might want to consider the possibility that everything is not perfect with his environment- regardless of how many chams you have had and for how long- we all make mistakes from time to time or oversee details. It happens- to everyone.

Hes about 3-4 months old, all chameleons are diiferent, maybe hes just really shy and needs longer to settle, my beardie took over a week.

I suppose that is possible. I did not mean to be disrespectful in my post in anyway, the point I was trying to make is simply that chameleons (and really all living things) are very complex organisms. When setting up an environment for them- naturally you can only take in to account a very small number of factors which play into their health and well being. It could be the case that all of the other chameleons you have had in the past liked a certain environment but now this one is different. Perhaps someone else who has worked with your species can spot something in your environment that has caused their animals stress. You never know. That was all I was trying to say. If he seems stressed, there must be a reason. Its really hard to simply conclude right off the bat that everything is perfect because if he is indeed stressed about something- everything must not be perfect. Something must be off.

It never hurts to let someone else look over your shoulder.
