You don't need to wait for that long :). If it's set up properly you can get the Cham in next day if you want. I know Chameleons are delicate, and can be difficult, but there is only so much you can learn by reading anyway.
Especially if you have kept reptiles before and you can keep an eye on temps and feeding it will be just as easy to learn while 'on the job'...........do it in your own time of course, and good luck!

haha really tempted but im not shure if i should buy online or from a reptile store. problem is that i doubt that i will find any locally. are there any online stores that will ship safely?LLLreptile?

my last reptile was a red tail boa which was a flash buy. it wasnt much work taking care of it. only had to feed it once a week.

but im pretty shure that if i order one tomarrow, i will be able to provide it a good home. but i definatly have to set the cage up first.
also wondering if this is a good basking light if combined with the reptisun 5.0? http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...ceramic-bulbs/-/zoo-med-50-watt-basking-bulb/

Grasping Limbs

Like the post above says:

Before buying the biggest coolest looking vines out there, remember that size does matter! and a mixture of different sized vines is good, preferably ones that the chameleon can get a full circled grasp on.

This is very important, I started off to large for my Veiled (Chamaeleo Calyptratus) and he did want to move as much and he was really unstable when unleash his tongue upon his prey. My male nailed a dubia then about fell off the branch as he pulled it in. I noticed it and went smaller and he is all around. I even have 3/4 inch rope hanging (not by the lights esp. the heat lamp) and he walks them with no problem even though they probably should be a little smaller but thatj is 1/2 inch (this is for a Cham that is over 1 years old). Good balance when striking for food is important, I know I put my Cham through having too large of branches for four days.

Cages: I just got an entertainment center at a rummage sale for $3. I bought a 18" tube light fixture for $1. Yard sales are good to, just look for a big box that can be screened in. I bought some screen for $13 dollars, Reptisun 5.0 UVB for $20, branches were free (ever see people cutting trees down or trimming for power lines, get over there and cut off the little ones). Hinge and latch $3 dollars. Light fixture and high bulb (but I upgraded to a heat lamp with dome) $13?. Plasic cup with small hole (free). It can be done cheap as possible. Fake vines, I tore up old plastic plants that were not being used and a real pothos plant $4. My entertainment center has two cages, one where the TV went for sub adults, and one where the VCR/Radio etc. went. I also have two towers (free) and a really nice oak entertainment center that will have two cages as well. Do it cheap enough and might have enough for two Veileds:D

Blaptica Dubia colony is a great idea, I feed the juveniles to my cham and the new babies nymphs to my baby veiled.

Get a low wattage one for a baby of course, but any standard bulb is good if the temps are ok. I don't know about shipping, as I live in uk and have good local shops. Check out site sponsors, I've mostly heard good things!

thanks.. i currently have a deep dome fixture and the 50watt basking bulb. i will see how this works and then fine tune his setup.

still need-
18" flourescent hood fixture
and reptisun 15" 5.0 uvb bulb
calcium
calcium+D3
and vitamin A

if anyone has any of the listed items please send me a pm as i cannot go onto the classifieds yet. i have paypal. :D

Mostonline Reptile companies ship absolutely safely, I bought from LLLreptile and received Waldo perfectly healthy with a guarantee. The box arrives and you are curious how the heck is that thing shipped like that and survives. Then you open to a makeshift chameleon home with insulation, comfort, and a cool pack if requested for hit temperature. The shipping was fast and overnight; received late morning for me. It was like another christmas. Just be sure you are home the morning of arrival to get it and schedule shipping on a day you will be there..
to me...you can't go wrong with LLL. If I was to buy another veiled it would be with them, but I want a panther next and like what I've seen from Screameleons.

As far as the UVB fixture you can get those at Petco or petsmart. You can also go to Walmart and pick up one of those under cabinet flourecent light fixtures for $7 and just get an 18" UVB lights. Get two and use one for your plants, and put your basking light in between.

LLL reptile has been awesome for me and recommend you get the supplements from them. You'll need multi vitamin to get vitamin A from.

As stated above, you might as well dive into it and you'll learn what you need to do. They have different personalities and some may be more finicky than others. So get your hand dirty. There's people here that are very knowledgable and cab help if you run into problems. Good luck!

Phase said..."will dust the food with
phos free calcium-5 days a week
phos free calcium/D3- 2 time a month
and vitamin A -2 times a month"...
the 3rd one should be vitamins...not just vitamin A. The reason I said to use a vitamin powder with a beta carotene source of vitamin A is that the beta carotene is not harmful.

Vitamin A comes in two forms...PrOformed and PrEformed. PrOformed is beta carotene and needs to be converted as needed by the body...but since its converted as needed its not dangerous and won't build up in the system. However...its not known if all/any chameleons can convert it so if they don't/can't convert it they will need some prEformed (acetate, retinol, etc.) which can/will build up in the system and lead to health issues. PrEformed is exactly that...in a useable form already...goes straight to work and any excess builds up in the body...so you have to be very careful not to overdo it.

Hope this explains it better.
