It looks like maybe a female Veiled, but it’s hard to tell, You have any more pics? you can always tell if it’s a male by looking at its back feet. They should have little spurs or knobs on the back feet. looks also a little under weight and dehydrated. Is this your cham in the pic?

I wish I could help you if it is a Male or Female..I don't know enough about veilds but what I do know is it looks dehydrated and under weight. Have you purchased this one?

Picking the Right Cham is Serious business! I know you're excited about getting you're new veiled and I would be too!!! But Don't Jump the Gun! Just a little advice...be careful and take your time when purchasing. MAKE SURE IT'S HEALTHY Before you purchase. You don't want a rehabilitation case to start with your first Cham. It will only lead to disappointment. I know that one of the breeders/sponsors on this site is from Canada..order a cham from them so you know it is healthy to start. It might cost a little more but it will be worth it in the end..JMHO

I told the guy I would go by to see it! He says its very active! If everything is clean and I can tell he cared maybe I'll gamble!
I can't find any 6 month chams in my area! slim pickings!!

MBD = Metabolic Bone Disease.
Jaxy just gave you the best advise! its very hard to turn away from a sad looking cham in a pet store! But you want one thats healthy and it should be an exciting experience for you and your family. Buying meds and vet visits can be very expensive and its always a 50/50 chance it will make it. I think a Veiled is a good starter cham if your new to the cham world. good Luck!!

Just "be careful" about Gambling. You want your daughter and yourself to have a great experience. You'd be better off buying a healthy young cham from one of the breeders here and keeping it in a small screen cage until it can grow into the bigger one. Screen cages are cheep. LLLreptile/sponsor has some nice ones at a great price. In fact I purchased my Jackson's cham from them and I've had him for a year and a half now. Wow thats a awsome setup! JaxyI wish we could do free range! He looks Happy! Wheres' the fish LOL
The one I'm looking at is $50 canadian dollars and the guy said he doesn't have interest in him any more!
The reason for not having a free range is seen beside cage! Enclosure almost complete! What do u guys think!

if by chance you see him and decide against taking him there is breeders in Stratford. They are called Chameleon Nation (a site sponsor) and they often have a batch of young veileds freshly hatched or soon to be. If you are interested you can check out the website at www.trinitychameleons.com (or .ca i cant remember lol) that is who bred my veiled and she is super healthy.

Hahahaha..now I how Free Ranging could turn your cham into a chew toy...LOL!
Your setup is looking really great..any cham would be happy in there.
MBD causes weakening in the bones due to lack of calcium and Vit D3 which comes from Natural sunlight or artificial in the form of UVB light. D3 helps the cham to Metabolize Calcium. Once a cham has MBD there is no curing itj and the cham will never have the range of movement that it once has. If left unchecked the cham will eventually die after much suffering. If you search for MBD on the forums you'll find what MBD looks like. Very sad state!!!

Steer clear of that veiled, it does look really thin & dehydrated. the front right limb does look MBDish to me as well. the rounded bent appearance is a giveaway. In my opinion you would be better off buying a fresh one form a breeder. not a former pet who has been the unwitting victim of ignorance and neglect. starting fresh will be worth the wait

Thanks man, I talked to them and they have babies, which would be to small for my cage. Trying to find a cham 6+ old and healthy, seems to be harder than I thought! I don't want to invest any more into cages lol!
I'm starting to consider in modifying one of my old 35 gallon fish tanks!
A good wash a putting it on it's side (tall wise) and removing the top side and replacing with it left over screen is starting to sound good! Maybe I will purchase a baby cham!

Wow nice setup! the oscars are huge!
I have two 55s' one has red/green tiger barbs, african ciclids (labs, reds,etc..) columbian barb, clown loach.
The second is a mild brackish setup with Red Scats!, Monos, Red chromolies, two clowns( they like alittle salt)
I'm going to take all your advice and staying away from that Cham!
