the basking light might but the uvb wont so just dont put it by the basking light. also if the basking light is that hot that far away then it is prob just too hot

thanks! im excited and a little nervous, i have been a salt water fish hobbyist for a long time, and very excited to get my first Chameleon



what ratio of live to fake plants would you have? also is their any specific type of live plant taht is better? do they sell them at the reptile stores or should i get them a nursery that sells plants?

i use pothos in my cages, but schefflera, ficus and hibiscus are good as well...hibuscus is hard to keep alive inside...just look at lowes or home depot and see what they have

Picture of the Cham

I just wanted to answer your question about the picture of the Chameleon in the picture on the flower. That is a beautiful baby Veiled Chameleon! That is when I fell in love with these crazy things years ago. I saw baby Veiled Chameleons at a pet store.

no its not bad at all you just want lots of hiding spots and a full cage so that the cham is comfortable

you dont NEED to have live plants, they just help with humidity and provide a more natural environment...the foliage provides hiding spots, and the chameleon drinks water off the leaves, thats why i like the pothos bc they have nice broad leaves that hold water well...also, those things are idiot proof, its pretty hard to kill a pothos...i usually throw in a fake vine or two to bulk up the foliage

depends on type of cham age and sex. but for a juvenile i would say its a good deal. but before you buy check out diy cages there a site sponsor and they have really good prices on cages and light fixtures and they are new not used

thats a good size for a starter cage, an ok price bc you can use some of the other stuff with it (mainly heat lamp, driftwood, and fake plants)...for a male veiled or panther you will eventually need a 2'x2'x4' cage, check out these sites...

thats how i felt also and if it is too big just lift the bottom a bit and lower it later but my 4 month panther has no prob in his cage and the bottom didn't even have to be raised

yeah i just did it in feet not inches, same size...if you get a baby i would suggest getting a smaller starter cage...it makes it easier for them to find food and for you to find the cham...baby chams are pretty small, but grow at a pretty solid rate, you can get like a 38 gallon reptarium for like 30 bucks, thats a pretty good starter cage size
