Hey guys this is my first post,hi to you all! seems like a great chameleon environment,so i got a pretty healthy male veiled chameleon,im not quite sure how old he is but he is pretty tiny, about 2 inches or a little bigger..my question is on calcium..what should i give this little guy? about how much?..im currently feeding him micro crickets and small supper worms..

get off the supers till hes a lil bigger they are so tough they cause impaction hornworms or silk worms are better,
as for calcium!
Calcium powder without D3
Calcium Powder with D3
Herptivite (or other multi-vitamin)
Pre-formed Vitamin A
Calcium should be provided on a few feeders 3 to 4 times a week, Calcium with D3 should be provided 1 to 2 times per week for young chameleons (up to 6 months old) and reduced to once or twice per month for adults.
this was copyd directly from http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/supplements.html i suggest reading all the options to the right from 2007 as they have great info for a beginner :D

Hi and welcome to the forums!!! Here is a form to fill out that will help us make sure that your cham is set up correctly and then we can go from there :)

Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information, you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
* History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
* Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
* Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
* Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
* Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

ok thanks so much for the info! i understand how the d3 calcium as well as the regular calcium from rep cal works now. what i still do not understand is if the herptivite multivitamin works..how much of that will my little guy need? and how often?

You need;
Calcium without D3
Calcium with D3
Reptile Multivitamin

lightly dust your feeders with calcium without D3 at every feeding. Dust lightly with D3 Twice a month. Dust your feeders with herptivite multivitamin twice a month. I would stay away from using vit A. If you gut load your feeders with Greens such as kale, mustered greens and fruits such as apples, oranges, strawberries you shouldn't have to use any other supplements.
