Hi, Guys I have a question about the cages from blue beast reptile. I am looking into buying a cage from them but not sure yet. I was planing on making my own but i dont know if i have the time to get everything and im not very good at building things. Soo if i got a blue beast cage 18*18*36 is there any way that i can make a drainage out of the bottom that they provide. I would like to get a auto mister also, so there might be some water at the bottom. This cage is going to be in my bedroom, and i dont want water going on the carpet, because my mom would flip. Has any one made a drain in that cage??
Thanks guys.

drill holes in the bottom of the Plastic panel.

get a big tub put on the bottom of the cage. drill a hole, add some tubing, seal with silicone glue. and put the other end of the tubing to a bucket for you to drain every day.

I also put my cham in my bedroom.

Alrighty so it is possibly then. I will probably purchase that cage then. I have two questions for you. Does your room ever get really hot from the lights, and do chameleons make your room smell, since all the humidy and all????

They really don't smell, unless your cages are quite dirty maybe. The lights will add to the heat which is ok this time of year, but maybe not in mid summer.

No, It does not really warm up your room. Maybe a degree. And the smell, as long as you clean it regularly (bi-weekly, weekly) you shouldn't have a problem with smell :)

I had mine in my room all last year, did not have problems.

Good luck!

if your room becomes smelly, there is something wrong with your husbandry care.
Pick the poop immediately if u see 1 laying around.

nope. i used 75 watt bulb..

humidity is a bit problem.. but i have taken care of that.
as long as you keep it between 40 to 50& w/ occasional rise during the night, it should b fine.

I have a 16x16x30 and 24x24x48 and they both have drainage in them. These are great cages. No smell, and the lights dont create heat. Good Luck

Thank you so much guys, i was planning on cleaning it all the time since i dont want poop just laying around. Also why do you recommend using a silver cage over black, I was going to purchase the black one, I think it would like nicer in my room? Is it possible that you can post some pictures of your drainage, if its not to much work that would be great. Thats the only thing im really worried about is water getting on the carpet. Thanks guys you are the best!

idk what's the deal w/ silver and black cage.
I've a black cage.. so far no problem at all.

Visibility is better with the silver enclosures.

Yes, visibility is better. They also look real good. But, to each his own. As far as water on your carpet, I have wood floors and have no problems at all. You can look at my gallery for a few pics. I can get more if you need it. The one thing I have done different was adding a clear shower curtain to 2 sides of my cages. This prevents any water getting thru the screen and onto the walls or floor.

This is quick shot of my setup, you can see the drainage kind of. I drilled a hole in the middle of the cage. Used a screen filter to cover the hole. The water goes through a funnel, straight in a bucket. I used caulking around the edges to stop leaking from the sides. And the difference between black and silver is just personal preference.

Very nice i like how you got that setup. What size cages are does. They look perfect to me. Would that size of cage be good for a permanent setup. I cant wait to get my cage setup!!!!!!!! All I do is think about it and dream about these damn chameleons.

Theyre both 24x24x48" tall, its standard for permanent cage setups. I put my chams in there at 4 months old and they did just fine. The stand I built but it was easy to build.
