My baby veiled chameleon got here this morning from lllreptile and has been closing his eyes most of the day and doesnt move around alot. Is this normal?

I answered you on your other thread. Try not to have more than one thread going on the same subject!

Sorry I seen that it needed to be posted here instead so I did and I cant figure out how to delete the other one!

anyways heres this that I was told to fill out.

Current Problem - eyes closed not eating or moving around

If you are using a 100 watt I am not sure if you would be getting a basking temp of 83 unless your house is very cold or the branch is very far away from the light. How are you measuring the temp? As far as the 5.0, that is the correct uvb light to use. Is it a coil? Sometimes the coils seem to be too strong for the babies. I am not sure that any of this is causing the problem. You may have just been shipped a chameleon that is not well. If his eyes are closed, he will not be able to eat or drink. Try taking an eye dropper and drip some water slowly on the tip of his nose. This might take several minutes for him to start drinking. You don't want him to get dehydrated.

I have the heat lamp hanging from the ceiling so its not sitting on his cage its about two inches above it. and we have an ac unit in here also.

FALSE ALARM! Hes fine now. I dripped some water on him and misted his cage and tied his food bowl to a branch and his eyes are open and he finally ate some crickets for me! 3 actually! :) and I had calcium on them also.

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad to hear that your little one opened his eyes. Hopefully he will start to eat more in the next couple of days. Baby veileds normally eat 15 or so small feeders a day. I couldn't imagine using a 100 watt blub on a baby. Do you have a digital temp gun to check his temps? If not I'd highly recommend you get one. I'm attaching my blog for new keeper for you below to help you keep your little one healthy.

delete and close

Don't worry I still can't figure out how to close and delete a thread. I closed one before, but have never been successful again. I actually spent 30min the other night trying to figure out how.

you cannot. You have to ask one of the moderators to do so. Brad, Ferritinmyshoes, Olimpia are a few of them. You can pm them and ask.

thanx

Thanx carol. apparently I haven't lost so much of my mind after 40. I find it easier to repair computers, than to use them. To use, I ask my 11yr old.
