I knew it was also the way they prepare it ( aka Fugu is the name of the prepared dish as well as the term for blowfish ) but I didn't know it was applied to only one specific puffer... how interesting! thank you!

Yep, Takifugu rubripes, is commonly referred to as the Fugu Puffer.
