No more chlorine?

I was told at the pet store that I can use fish water to de-chlorinate with aloe. He said just a drop for the spray bottle with the water. Is this ok to use? Are there other dechlorization methods? Thanks

I can't really comment on that suggestion, but I know that carbon filters remove chlorine from water, which is what I use for all my reptiles.

Too much distiller water can kill a human so I would be careful of that. And it's not always the case if you can drink it then so can your cham. We can tolerate higher amounts of things in the water. Chlorine for example which was what this post was initially about.

So would you suggest using the chlorine remover with aloe? I know the aloe plant is on the safe list so I'm not all too worried about that, it's just that I've heard so many different things regarding chlorine remover

First, you need to know whether your water contains CHLORINE or CHLORAMINES. Both are commonly used to treat municipal water sources. If you have chlorine you don't really need to use a chemical to get rid of it. Chlorine tends to dissipate from water if you pour what you want to use into an open bucket and leave it out overnight. If your water is treated with chloramines, you'll need to use an aquarium or reptile water treatment chemical to get rid of it.

How do I tell the difference?

By law your water provider has to provide yearly testing. You can visit their website and find what is in your water. They will also tell you what they add to it. Might be different in Canada though.

Catalytic carbon filters remove chloramine much more effectively them standard carbon filters. The better quality carbon filters remove more.
