No Rep/Herp Vet in the area, help!

AT least try a soak. Put some warm water in a flat bottomed container, only about 1 to 1 1/2 inch. Take him in your hand and gently lower him in the warm water. Keep him on your hand so you can keep head out of water, but make sure his butt is in the water. Keep him like that for at least 15 minutes, more if he relaxes and you don't have to struggle with him. Mine struggled for about 2 minutes, then relaxed in the warm water.

Then when you're done, put some bacitracin or some kind of lubricant on it. Do that every 2 hours. Check your progress, and perhaps VERY GENTLY give a little tug. If it is a plug, it wiill come out. If it is a hemipene even shoving it back in won't help after this long of a time and needs to be removed by a vet. I would at least call the vets in your area to see if any of them will perform this surgery. It is better then letting it be.

Sounds like a hemipene problem and will need to be amputated by a Veternarian. Not very pleasant for him to be in that condition for that amount of time. Please take him to the vet and get him feeling better.

you know what im disgusted by? vets that don't know what they're doing, do it anyway, charge u a fortune, and your animal dies. Unless i know the vet, or have been recomended, I'm not taking my animal. sorry. his condition has not changed in 3 months, still eats, poops, drinks, not stressed. I see it as more of a risk to take my rep to a vet than to not. maby you have too much trust in these vets that are there to primarily MAKE MONEY, sorry guess i've had too many bad experiences.

This is the most rediculous excuse I have heard for anything. The least you could do is have him LOOKED AT before you or the Vet decide any kind of treatment, it's only fair to the animal, and you if you care about it enough.

Ok people, let's do this. Let's run an all out search for Herp Vets near this guy. Most Herp Vets can perform a hemipene amputation.

Here is a list from Yellowbook.com of veterinarians in the Pensacola area. If I were you I would just go down the list calling and asking whether any veterinarians in the office have had reptile experience and if not whether they could provide a recommendation to one that does. As Juli said, most vets with reptile experience should be able to perform an amputation of that sort.

Leaving your chameleon in the condition isn't very fair to it, as it must be in pain. Please, angry words aside, just get your animal to a vet.
