This sub-adult animal is nosy faly or ambanja?

Edit: Usually in the Faly's you see red in the background and on the ambanjas it's red in the barring.

Looks like a Ambanja now but he may be a Faly. Usually the Faly's have yellow around the lips and eyes and like the previous poster said red not just in thier baring but in their whole body. Either way amazing looking boy you have there!

in my opinion this isn't 100% nosy faly,but sure one of parents is nosy faly(red stripe is tipical of this locality)..maybe it is nosy faly x ambanja(or an other locality of this cost,like ankify or ambato)

Definitely not an Ambato. It looks like an Ambanja. Ambanjas can be fairly variable and this is one of the typical looks for them.

With Chris on first educated estimate ..

First estimate ... 99.99% Ambanja
Second ..... 99.98 Ambanja
Third ..... 99.97 Ambanja

Even if it knew how to swim, it is neither an Ambato, Faly, ..... it is not just slightly Ambanja, it is all Ambanja.

Was it sold to you as a Faly. Was it small when sold, such as in not showing anything definitive ? And if it sold as a Faly, is it possible that the origins of the animal were misrepresented ? Imagine that !

I tend to ambanja, but I'm definitly no pardalis expert. But this site should help:

There's a article about the short way from Ambanja to Nosy faly and the change of the colors of F.pardalis.
I think the author is also a member here.
The red part of his body is too dominant for Nosy faly in my opinion and there's as well to less yellow at the eye and the lip

I still say 100% ambanja. The faly would have red dots "red rain" all the way up the body for one. Most ambanjas have the red dots at the bottom. I wonder if we could call them red puddle

I agree with Jim, No doubt that this animal has come from the Ambanja region. Here is a link to a fairly similar looking animal, more blue and less green, however he is a subadult like yours

i know im late on this one, but definitley looks like ambanja to me.. ya nosy falys usualy have some sort of yellow around there face... and this guys is pure red and blue, but ya he's sure is an amazing one
