Alright so i potty trained him! Sorta. I've trained him not to pee on me after realizing that he'll continue to pee on me if i put him down right after he pees. After a few days of handling him, pee and poop regardless, he ;earned that it wont get him anywhere. In turn he learned that he can poop where-ever i put him down so i have to be careful about where i put him down.

Definitely a merauke. Though he definitely doesn't have the orange/reddish tint that some can... Chronos has a huge burst of orange on his chin and under his stomach, but from what I understand having that much is a sought after breeder trait. Sadly he will likely never be bred. He's just my grumpy titan boy ^^. If you want more success with potty training. Try feeding him, then before you take him out and about 30 mins-1 hour after eating, soak him in some warm water. It usually coaxes him to poop/pee. Plus it make sure he's hydrated, it's so cute to watch them soak too ^^

Hi and welcome Neptune! It is hard for me to tell exactly, but he does look like a Merauke. The pictures are all a little dark. What size enclosure, substrate, temps, humidity level, and feeding are you doing? These guys require a higher humidty then other blues. If you haven't checked out bluetongue.org definitely do so. They will provide you with a ton of educational information. I also can help if needed. Good luck.

I dont know the exact size but i just use paper towel as a substrate because it's easy to keep hydrated and it's easy for clean up. I have a hollow log on each side and some plants where he can hide under and in when he needs to. I make all of my own food for him. 10% is fruit and 40% is greens/vegetables and the other 50% is proteins. I've checked out bluetongue.org and i routinely go to them when i need information. It is not recommended from what I know of at all to use a papertowel as a substrate. Burrowing substrates are highly recommended with Blueys as burrowing is very important to their mental and physical health. I use Eco Earth but plenty of people use Aspen without issues. I generally shoot for a heated rock and basking temp around 98-102* though usually my room temp is relatively warm/humid anyway. And I always recommend having a water bowl that is big enough for them to soak in. If the general room you keep him in is stupidly humid (like my reptile room ^^ yay chameleons) I would recommend misting his hide once a day and providing something like moss to allow for that moisture to stay? What would you say @Rapunzel's Pascal?

I also would agree. It is extremely important for them to burrow and feel secure. I use Jungle mix with Reptibark on top. With this I only have to add water to the substrate once a week. The large water bowl is important as well. I don't personally believe in heated rocks. I have seen one to many reptiles get burned on them, but your basking temps are right. I am glad you have the site for help. They truly are fabulous.

Not actually heated rocks. never use those things. No I use a basking stone in a way. It's what I use it for my more higher temps reptiles that have the hardier scales. I use just a slate stone that my basking light heats to warmer temperature... I can touch it, it's just standing in the sun too long without moving or good shade, don't want to do it forever.

Lol, I am up at all hours with a wee little one. Bluey's are the absolute best. I love mine so much.
