" THIS IS THE EASTWOOD SCHOOL SYSTEM- THE SCHOOL IS IN LOCK DOWN AFTER LIVE AMMUNITION WAS FOUND. INCASE OF AN INCIDENT, YOU ARE GROUP #31. PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR GO TO THE SCHOOL UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE." CLICK

I did speak to my daughter - she is in a locked class room- I am sure all will be ok ( PRAY! ) so I sit waiting.....knees weak, sick to my stomach - will keep you all posted - of course I want to go up there- but do not want to add to the mess- I told her I would come get her as soon as we can go near the school- you can not even get near it right now :( we are a tiny town - I just can't understand this..... I feel she is safe NOW due to what seems to be 1000 police there now -

That's too horrible......I hope and pray that everyone is safe. I expect the police have the situation fully under control there now. I hope they keep you informed as quickly as possible what the full situation is.

That is horrible, nobody should have to go through something like this with their children, we send them to school feeling they are safe and now this happens way too often these days....I could go through a lot of reasons why I think this happens so much now, but I won't, it wouldn't matter and sure not stop it.......praying for your daughter and the other kids at that school.....try to stay calm Cheryl, thoughts and prayers for you.

Quick update Cheryl talked to her daughter, Emily. She is in a locked classroom and feels safe. Cheryl is hoping is was just one of the kids had a bullet fall out from a jacket, jeans, whatever.

Emily just call her Mom so we hung up. poor Cheryl is worried to death. More when we know something.

Ok great news Cheryl is on the way to pick Emily up. I don't have all the details yet but they are letting the parents pick up the kids. Thank God Emily is ok.

I hope neither the kids nor their parents suffer too much emotionally; what a horrible, frightening thing to occur! I was so glad to read that the ultimate tragedy did NOT occur in this case.

My heart goes out to all of the parents who had children at that school!

ok, we are all fine- what a morning - this is not a call you think you will ever get from your school- but, I have to admit, with how things are anymore- I am sure it is always in the back of any parents mind- the school and the police were very good about searching everything- Em is ok, a little freaked out- they were offered a bathroom break- armed police escort to the bathroom  Emmy was to nervous to go , she said the police were "stern and mean" - I told her they were not there to be nice, they were there to protect you -- but once it was over, the police were very calming and sportive to the kids, letting them ask things and all..
I am glad its over- I dont know all details - I did not hang around to get them - I just wanted to get my daughter and get home - so glad all ended well, and its over
Thanks everyone for your support- and Laurie- what can I say- THANK YOU for keeping me calm - and keeping everyone up dated

So glad all is well. Let me re-assure everyone....although it would HELL to get that call, please know that teachers take your child's life very seriously. We are trained and we do routine drills for intruder alerts and sever weather alerts. We know exactly what the safest avenue is to take to get your child to safety.

Having said that, I can't imagine how frightened you must have been. When we practice the drills, I always think about my own children, who would be in the same building, with a different teacher, and there would be nothing I could do to find out if they were safe since my primary responsibility is keeping my classroom safe. So sorry you had to go through that.

I had complete trust in our teachers , my sister was a teacher K-12 special ed- before she passed from cancer at 46 :( but she just loved her kids , and like you, and all the teachers at Eastwood, I know they take care of the kids :)

So happy everything worked out OK and your daughter and the other kids of that school all made it out safe and sound.
