My female veiled isnt eating as much as she used to. she is nearly a years old and has been eating about ten crix a day but now she eats 2-6 each day it is worrying me does anyone know why?

Picture please.....

Could we get a picture of her? Seeing her body build and overall shape would help a lot. This must be the same female that gaped at your male....

yes it is. I cant put a picture on now bu there is one of her in the genereal discusssion on why is my chameelon fat

Link please....

Maybe I'm brain dead today. I tried looking for that thread and can't find one with a picture. Can you post a reply with a link to it? Thanks :)

Found link....

This is the link you are talking about:

https://www.chameleonforums.com/chameleon-fat-25945/

That was posted a couple of weeks ago. Has her coloration changed? In the previous post she does not look gravid. The bulge in the pictures in the above link are fat pads. Chameleons have a fat pad in that area. She just looks like she is a nice healthy weight. I would not say fat. Females need that fat pad reserve to draw on when they are gravid.

Without an updated picture I would guess maybe she is now gravid since she was with a male and gapes at him now. Females eat more during most of their gravid time. In the last week they do slow down or stop eating because their stomach space is squished due to the eggs. Can you palpitate her belly to feel for eggs? With her age and behavior I would make sure she has access to an egg laying bin. I would still advise you to get a current picture for us. Two weeks can mean big changes for a female chameleon.

she has about 4 feeder a day. i am only young (still at school) and dont have loads of money to spend on dofferen t feeders. What feeders do you suggest.

Four insects a day is quite sufficient. Try to find a way to offer her a variety of feeders. Do some extra chores for money or something. ;) Silkworms, butterworms, roaches, superworms etc
At one year old, she should have a place ready for laying eggs. She doesnt need to mate to produce eggs.

Same

When my female veiled chameleon was about a year old, she also did not eat. It could be that yours is egg bound, even if she has not been in contact with a male. Also, what substraite are you using, because she might have eaten a piece and it is now blocked.
