not enough lighting?

im wondering if my light is enough. i have a month old male veiled. from what i have read, they don't need basking light as long as the temperature is okay. my veiled's enclosure is a 24x12x16 screen cage. with a 24" reptisun 5.0 uvb light on top. now, from what i have seen in chameleon videos and from what i have read, they use 2bulbs one fluorescent 6500k and one uvb light. what's the purpose of the 6500k light? aside from giving brighter light, does it have other benefits for the chameleon? cause im thinking if my lights are not enough, my veiled's doing great by the way. very active in the morning and is eating right. aside from using a 6500k fluorescent bulb, can i use a white lamp light instead? thanks

we use two bulbs.
one for uvb, and one for basking,
uvb bulbs dont give off alot of heat, so the basking bulb helps with that.
they need warmth to digest properly.

what are your temps in your cage right now?

before i use uvb and a basking bulb. when i use both of them. the temperature ranges from 28-32C. yesterday i noticed my cham opened his mouth for about 20seconds i think. so i figured it might be too hot for him so moved the basking light further from his cage. he seems to be doing better now. im just curious what's the use of the other t8 bulb they are using?

Nope.
I use two bulbs. though i need to add a plant growth one to make 3 bulbs.

i have a reptiglo 5.0 and a 100 watt clear glass, house bulb.

he's doing better now, thanks guys! he ate 2crickets yesterday. and today another two. he's on shed now and i think that could be the cause why he did not consume more crickets? hopefully tomorrow he's gonna eat more after he has shed

They will oftern reduce or stop eating when shedding cuz it bothers them so much.

i see. thank you! i need to get myself one of those plant lights if i move him to a bigger cage i've already collected some nice mature pothos, dracaenas and a bird's nest fern! im growing them for preparation of the big cage lol

I love pothos. I also have some scheffelara thats growing huge. I use them to free range.
2 of my 3 chams are free ranged.

what do you mean by free range? you cage both of them together? or you dont cage them at all?

free range= not caged at all.
and not together, as lily my female veiled, does not like Kink my male veiled.

and Kermit my male hoehnelli, is too small for me to comfortable free range him right now.
