Help !!! Is she just fat !! Or has eggs
Looks like eggs.... Fill this out for us in detail then attach pics of the entire enclosure lights down so we can see what your working with.

Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

Hi @Kala sutton ! :) I’ll be putting my feedback in red.
  • Your Chameleon - 5 months old , female? , veild , and I’ve had melly for 4 months Could you post some more pics of her please?
  • Handling - Not a lot we use too and then she got really mean and was getting stressed so we didn’t want her be stressed so we don’t really handle her Yes, pretty typical attitude. 😊
  • Feeding - Feed her crickets for most part ones day about 10 crickets! This is too much. She should be getting about half of that amount daily. You could add some variety to her diet. All feeders need to be well fed so that they are more nutritious for your chameleon. Attaching feeder and ‘gutloading’ graphics for you.
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium reptile calcium every time get crickets I sprinkle some on them in the crickets cage ! It’s super important to know exactly what you are using. Can you post a pic of your supplement? Chameleons need calcium, vitamin D3 and multivitamins...I can’t advise until I know what you’ve been using.
  • Watering - dripper, let drip all day and mist 4 times day ! The dripper should only be for about 15-20 minutes around mid day. Misting should be for at least 2 minutes, 3 times daily...at lights on, mid afternoon and around lights off.
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors white little yellow
  • History - She use always be a pine green in day and at night light green past few days she been light green all day long and now shows blue and yellow at times ! As the ladies reach their maturity, they start to show their pretty colors and patterns. Has she been restless recently...like in the past month or so?
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage screen one real plant and rest fake Can you post a pic of your entire enclosure, from the lights to the floor?
  • Lighting - can’t remember but I use a daylight 100 w from 8am to 8pm and long uva light 15 I think ? I would think with a 100w bulb you’d have much hotter temps. Is it LED, incandescent or halogen? I’m inclined to believe that you may have the wrong uvb. A pic of your enclosure will better show this.
  • Temperature - What temp 75 f and 67 low I saw your addition about temp. 80 at basking area is perfect! You don’t want it to be any higher than that. At night it’s great to have the temp drop and veileds can handle down to the 60’s.
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? Not sure that one I put plastic on sides help with humidity Humidity and knowing your level are important. The ideal range is 30-50%, which is much drier than you’d think. Too humid + heat can lead to respiratory infection.
  • Plants - Aloe While I’ve seen this on the lists of being safe for reptiles, if eaten too much, it can cause diarrhea. It’s also not really a suitable plant for a chameleon. Pothos would be much better...much easier to grow, large leaves to sip from and take shade under and beautiful long vines for additional little chameleon roads.
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Window While it’s great to give her a view of the world, it is always a concern that the sun coming thru can overheat her as well as any possible drafts or cold radiated can chill her. Also, just an FYI...uvb doesn’t travel thru glass.
  • Location - Maryland
While I can’t say with any certainty if she is overweight or gravid with eggs, it’s possibly a mix of both. Let me end this here and then I’ll get more into care of females and egg laying.

I asked if she’s been restless recently as that would mean she was receptive. Our young ladies get all prettied up and then are very active and restless in their search for a mate. Not long after that ends, she’ll start getting plump and maybe even lumpy near her back end. Her colors/patterns may change a bit...my girls’ dots darken. She may stop being as active and eating less as she nears her laying time. Usually once they have become receptive is when I suggest getting the lay bin ready and putting it in as a permanent part of her enclosure. It’s basically a minimum size of 12x12x12” bin (drill a few tony drainage holes in the bottom) and fill to about 8” deep with clean play sand. If you’d like, you can add a little organic soil and put a plant in the corner. The sand needs to be kept moist enough to hold a tunnel without collapsing. They don’t dig just straight down, but at an angle. Once she starts digging, she must be given total privacy or she may stop digging and get egg-bound. I use a light cotton sheet to cover only the visible parts of the enclosure and make some peek holes so I can monitor her progress. She may dig a few test holes before deciding on one. When she’s got her hole dug to her liking, she’ll turn around with her bottom side at the bottom of her hole, lay her eggs and then cover her hole. When you see her sitting on her basking branch and her hole is covered, she’s done. It can take a couple of days from start to finish. No need to worry about feeding. Use the dripper but not over the lay bin. Feed her well for a few days after and then cut her feedings back to 3 feeders every other day or even 3 days a week. Reducing food and keeping temps cooler at 80 will help prevent her from laying too many eggs (which increases risks of complications) and may reduce the frequency that she lays. We want to do this as laying is very hard on them and shortens their lives.

She hasn’t been eating like she she use you and you said I feeding her to much so that why I thought maybe she just fat ?!

Ok, well this is a start that we can build up. You definitely need to add more branches. I scavenge mine from outside...oak trees. I wash them with Dawn dish soap, rinse well and dry in the sun and then use them. You may need to create a little scaffold attached to the frame to hang more branches. If you know anyone with a pothos plant, ask for some clippings. Put in a glass of water until a few roots grow and then plant. I buy the bushiest pothos I can find and then separate it into a couple of pots. I notice you have something on the floor of the enclosure...bare floor is best and easiest to keep clean. I really can’t tell much about your uvb fixture. @Beman has much better eyes than I do for these.
