Not sure what's wrong... need help, please!

I noticed the Exo Terra fixture on top of cage, those can only handle a heat bulb max. wattage 26 per socket. If you attempt to put more wattage, especially heat, you are going to burn the fixture and risk possibly fire hazzards.

**Extremely important**
That fixture is designed only to hold a compact coil style UVB bulb. You NEED to get that coil UVB out ASAP to avoid eye problems and possible blinding of your cham. Repti Sun linear tube is your best bet. You will need a new fixture for this.

Im not a veiled owner, but I feel i should say that many people keep females at the temps originally described (basking only 85F) in order to reduce egg production and prolong the life of the chameleon.

The eye issue is unlikely to be related to temp.

eye issue in this case seems to be from a infection caused from the wood chops possibly molding. wood cant handle moisture at all, or it rots, and molds pretty quick also she may have gotten her eye in it. we need a picture of her eye, and anything else you can describe about her. no one can say 100% sure about anything since we havent seen the eyes yet, and really dont know much about the cham though there are some husbandry issues here that could be causing more stress. the Exoterra tops can handle a 60W bulb in them new ones/ old ones all say that in the top

what would this mean syn, if there was a popping noise when she breathed? i can remember near the end with jack, i swore i could hear a popping sound when he was moving sometimes, but it was very similar to the sound that you hear when they get a claw stuck on their skin, and pop it off...........

Popping noises indicate URI.

Hey guys... I just set up a 75w sun glo basking lamp and a probe thermometer. I have her basking area up to 95 degrees, so I hope she feels more comfortable. I'll be removing the substrate tomorrow while I have her out of the enclosure to go to the vet. I've started treating her eyes with saline in the mean time, to try to help with the eye infection. I'll keep you posted on her condition over the next few days and let you know what the vet had to say.

Thanks for the advice and tips!

Well, I must say I am very happy. Within 24 hours of adding the 75w bulb, Camille has shown the importance of having the right light for your chameleon. The 26w bulb was definitely not enough. Since getting her basking spot up to 95 degrees, she has stopped gaping, been more active, returned to her vibrant green, and her eyes seem to be getting better with the saline treatment. I am very pleased. She has also started to react better to being misted.

Thanks for the help again guys.
