Not very happy with our petsmart!

It's true that there is a wide variety. In the Petco's I frequent (3 here in San Diego) there are only the plastic containers of "large" supers usually bundled with "repti" worms. But there is a wide variance among the stores, so maybe I shouldn't assume the best of the clerk....

So, I went to petsmart this afternoon in hopes of getting some superworms. The lady told me that my chameleons cant have worms til 2 1/2 years of age! I was like what? She refused to let me buy them so I walked out pretty unhappy. Three more days and my hubby will be paid so I can order worms online. Which is the best place to get worms? And my babies should be ok with crickets for 3 more days right?

Ages are 2-3 month old male, 3-4 month old female veiled chameleons

Why dont you just go back when she isnt working and buy some! Or have a freind or neighbor go for you. I would never ask the advice from anyone at a pet store. I place what I want on the counter... they ring it up.. I pay....I leave!;)

Probably not at Petco though. Petco usually has full size supers and they probably aren't appropriate for 2-4 month old chameleons.

Big supers are no good for 2 month olds, but my 4 month old veileds are often young adult or very nearly adult sized, and supers would be fine for those. Even at 3 months they would have no problem.

Of course it all depends on the size of the chameleon rather than the age so much.

I have a little more confidence in the clerk after hearing about the can o worms purchase

At least the advice perhaps- but still feel flat out refusal of sale not the answer.

I bought my first horn worms the other day and in a couple of days most of them are now so big they frighten my 15 month old male. so now what do I do with them?

I dont know what the situation with reptile stores is in the us, or the rest of canada, but there are quite afew reptile stores that know what they are talking about and sell reptiles in good health, i have a PJs Pet store near my house, but the people dont know Sh*t about reptiles, and they always try to get me to buy stuff and make things up, so instead i take a 15 minute bike acouple times a week to the reptile store instead, that being said, i also trust the feeders more at the reptile store
