Now im concerned

So ive posted a thread about my chameleon acting really weird lately but this tops it now nd i think she is becoming gravid? I found her sleeping on the bottom of her plants.. Shes been roaming the bottom alot now nd now i found her sleeping here? Is she trying to stay cool? Anyone with similar experiences please share input? This is my first chameleon so i dont knoe wut to expect? Thank u 4 any advice

What are the ambient temperatures and basking temperatures? How cold or hot is it at night time?

She could be ready to lay a clutch of eggs and you may want to build an egg laying bin so she doesnt become eggbound. It could also be way to hot so she is trying to cool off at the bottom.

I do have a egg laying binn with 50% play sand nd 50% eco earth.. Her temperatures are in between 65 at night to 80ish during the day.. Its gotten a little warmer rescently but shes just been all over the place like a maniac.. Climbing non stop but she has not attempted to digg at all?

Not sure why she would be sleeping in the plants, but they can move around a lot more when they become receptive, since they are looking for a mate.

However, it is important to rule out that she is not gravid. Is she any larger than usual or does she have any egg-looking shapes in her abdomen? Have you tried leaving her in a large trash can with play sand to see if that stimulates her to dig?

Ive felt her belly nd didnt feel anything.. She has 3 potted plants plus her laying bin in her enclosure.. I wana mate her but shes not a full year old yet, plus havent noticed "receptive" colors yet.. No change in diet just very active lately? Just very odd behavior compared to her normal?

I have a male Nosy Be who sleeps in the planter every night. I noticed it was getting too hot, ,recently, in my cages, so I lowered the wattage of my light bulbs. The chams kept looking lower. Now they are back at the top.

Hello, I could recommend a couple things to you being a new Cham keeper. That's a pretty good looking cage for a beginner! Good job! Did you use 100% organic potting soil in those pots for the plants? They should really be covered up with rocks so she doesn't try to eat any unwanted dirt or mistake that for the laying bin. Also try raising your cage a couple feet of the ground, she will feel more secure while basking. In the care resources the laying bin needs to be 16x16x16 but a minimum of 12" deep at the least. Lastly if you want to breed chameleons, great! But I wouldn't reccomend it being a beginner. I've had my first chameleon for over a year now, and one turned into 3. Even right now I don't think I would have the time, space, money, proper equipment, and even enough knowledge to try to start breeding.

Hey their thanks for the compliments, i havent put rocks because she never came to the bottom. Its all organic in my enclosure excluding the the fake stuff, i had a knatt problem so i put sand on top of the soil. Her laying bin is i beleieve is 14x12 nd at least 12" deep of 50% play sand and 50% ec9516609343o earth which i try 2 keep moist.. I dont plan on breeding til down the line because my neighbor has a mate but wana be ready for all that plus shes not a full year yet which from what ive read a chamm shouldnt be bredd until shes older than a year? Correct me if im wrong but 2nights night two in the same spot? Ill put rocks on her plants just to be safe? But keep the advice coming? Please!! Plus how does raising my enclosure make her feel more secure?

I have a 5 month old Veiled that sleeps on the bottom as well but comes up top to walk around during the day then right back to the bottom at night, in fact shes there right now.

Shes about 11months give or take but shes gotten close to the bottom before but never touched soil so im kinda confused nd excited... Been prepared but still learning new things everyday.. Thanks to u guys!!! Lol

I believe she is looking to mate. If she was truly too hot, she would most likely gape her mouth. Female veils do prefer a few degrees cooler than males, but only about 5 degrees or so, at the hottest point. By her coloring, I think she is just trying to find a date. I could be wrong. Just make sure to keep her laying bin around. But in all likelihood, she is just hormone driven right now. If you were to show her a male, I would bet she would just sit and wait for him. As far as receptive colors go during the day shes mostly dark colored nd her regular green? At night she turns all fancy and bright? Is that how its suppose to be? Or should she be bright all the time to be concidered receptive?

Keeping the soil moist is pretty important once she starts digging you don't want those tunnels collapsing on her! It sounds like your doing good so far! When you raise the enclosure of the ground she will feel like she is higher up in the ' trees ' and not down low in the ' bush ' if you will lol. And yes I would wait until she is a young adult or adult just to make sure she is mature enough.
