offensive with the tongue?

weird thing last night, I took Otto out of his cage to show my wifes parents. As usually he made a big scene, hissing and lunging and puffing.

The wierd thing was a put my face kind of close to him and he started to hiss directly at my face instead of my hands, which I've seen him do before, so it wasn't a big deal. But then his tongue came out to it's 'pre-shoot' position, like I was a huge roach or something.

It really seemed like he was about to stab at my face with his tongue. And remembering back to a post a few weeks ago about someone getting shot in the eye, I instinctively reared back, turned my head, and closed my eyes. So I don't know what would've happened.

Thought it was interesting.

Anyone else seen any offensive tongue strikes?

Thats funny lol,the closest ive seen is my cham doin that at my hand because he that i was gonna feed him,wen i was just misting his cage:p

yeah I've seen plenty of mis-shots before. Like "whoops I thought your wedding ring was a cricket, sorry".

This was more like "I'm gonna poke your eyes out!! argg!!!"

I do remember making my female veiled mad by doing arrangement in the cage. She was hissing, puffing the whole time. I got done and started retracing my arm, she shot her tongue to my hand (stuck for a split second). I'm sure she was saying: "Do that again and I'll eat your freaking hand!".

Maybe, perhaps it's like:
"give me that... I'm going to bite it!"

I always take them out of "their territory" before I start fiddling with "their space".

Hahaha, I was the one who made that thread :D

He did it to me again not long ago, I had to actually kind of get halfway into his (new, giant) cage to do some spot cleaning and he was staring down at me from the branches... he actually started coming AT me. The weird thing was, though, he wasn't puffing or turning colour, just coming at me really fast and aiming his tongue, so I got the hell out of there!

I've got an idea

It may be that your cham was actually thirsty.

If you look at someone's eyes under a bright light
they're glistening and clearly wet.
It's known that a thirsty cham will "shoot' at water droplets
that are out of reach.

perhaps that is what your cham saw when he looked at you under his lights
the watery reflection of your dew filled eyes staring back at him
and he said... "water?"

Maybe you should give him something to drink (water bottle?):)
