oily skin?

is it normal for my chameleon's skin to be oily he was just shedding his head is still but the rest of his skin is super oily is that normal

Very newly shed skin may feel more supple and soft than more mature skin. I don't think its actually "oily" per se. I know that snakes produce an light oily substance to help them shed their old skins but not sure if chams have the same mechanism. Not sure if this answered your question or not. Is there an actual discharge or coating that rubs off?

MY chameleon sometimes has that when he is shedding. I find that he only has it when he is having trouble shedding.
